Binghamton TKE at a glance: Our Chapter (Rho-mu) was first founded as Phi Epsilon Tau in 1981 by our 10 founding fathers. Later, in 1986 it became a TKE Colony which gained charter about a year later. TKE Traditions:

TKE Coat of Arms: The Coat of arms consists of a shield of the Norman form, upon which is a bend with five equilateral triangles, surmounting a scroll bearing the initial lettes of a secret motto in Greek, and surmounted by a skull, or death's head, three quarters profile. This assemblage is done in the official colors, cherry and gray, properly mantled. Its connotation, or meaning, is also revealed by the initiation ritual. The Coat of Arms may be used only by official members of the fraternity on stationery, jewelry, and other personal effects. It is used by the fraternity upon its official stationary, membership certificates, and other documents. Distinctive and beautiful, the TKE Coat of Arms is vastly unique to that employed by any other fraternity. Modified slightly several times during the early years of Tau Kappa Epsilon, the present Coat of Arms, adopted in 1926, was designed by Carlton B. Pierce and Ms. Emily Butterfield.

Annual TKE Keg Roll: For the past 23 years our chapter has participated in an annual event called Keg Roll. A keg (empty) is rolled by every brother in the fraternity from Syracuse to Binghamton.
The newest members of the fraternity are the first to roll the keg, and are later joined by each brother of the fraternity in age order, until they reach campus when the entire fraternity forms a caravan with police escort. Later in the night an afterparty takes place at one of the bars in downtown Binghamton. Many alumni come back for this spectacular event. The next day the brothers usually throw a humongous party at the fraternity house which is well known to be the largest party of the second semester. The proceeds from Keg Roll benifit different charities each year. This year at the 24th annual Keg Roll we will be donating to the Lou Allen Fund. Lou Allen is a fallen brother of our fraternity, who was killed in the line of duty in Iraq.
