Music is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn"

George Gershwin - Composing Genius?

So....George was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1898 to a lovely pair of  Russian Jewish Migrants! Fun...Fun. As A kid he studied Music Theory, and left school in 1914 (rebel...)  to work as a "pianist". In 1916, he wrote his first song, and in 1919, his first Broadway musical, La La Lucille. Because he was so hott, the people of Manhattan loved him, and was a feature of New York Theatre Life. George's first "hit", was Swanee (another work of 1919). In 1924, he incorporated jazz into his works, and his song Rhapsody In Blue became a huge Orchestra and Piano Hit. From then until he died in 1937, Georgio wrote alongside his bro, and produced larger-scale works for movies and films.
Marching Band!!! - Has Mr. Willis Decided Upon A Theme??

La La La La..... Oh.... 2 weeks before band camp, and i think I know what, exactly, we are to play. Our show is going to be uber intense. So....we'll start with Beethoven's Fifth (always thrill-inducing), then our 3 part Rhapsody In Blue (Which is the Main Part of the show), and finally we take a trip to song-from-our-not-so-great past, and play Night On Bald Mountain (Which, if u must ask, is a personal favourite)
Prop Crazy - Marching-Band-Necessity, Or Chronic Disease??

This came from Mr. Willis himself....this year we are to use actual PROPS!! Not any stand-up shadow-paintings of 'Da Beatles (which were pretty edgy), but a BACKDROP, and ACTORS!!! Has Columbia taken a turn down the road of Marching-Band-Bliss? However, one obstacle stands in our way.... TRANSPORTATION! Without our own Semi (lol...at every nasty band in the world), we must find a way to get this stuff from Columbia to our Away Games and competitions.
Oh...It Is That Time Of Year Again! We Must Say Goodbye To Our 2003 Graduates. We Will Miss Them All.

Band Camp - The Best Vacation From Reality A Musician Could Ever Have.

It wasn't the incredibly amazing 13-Million-Page-Drills, the insanely easy-to-memorize music, or  Mr. Willis'/Mr. Seabold's superb directing that kept us going. It had to have been the 90 Degree Weather, the boil-alert water, (and the fact that State-Competion was dangling above our heads). Yes, Band Camp was fantasic. 3 weeks of pure Band, and I could not be more happy than I was when I was marching on the marshy Soccer Fields.
Game Uno - Is Brookside Ready For This Marching Green Machine?

Today Is Thursday, And Tomorrow Is Our First Game. We Are About Ready To March Away With Our First Show - Symphony Numero 5 by Beethoven (Who Else?), Rhapsody In Blue Part 1 (Parts 2 and 3 to follow soon! by Our Best Buddy Georgio, and, lol, as if there was a pattern here, Crazy Train by none other than Ozzy Osbourne (It Was Not My Suggestion, I Assure You. But It Makes The Band Happy Like 4.H. Kidz Getting To Play Allstar.) But Back To Brookside We Go, After A Home Game Last Year. I Look Foward To Seeing Their Show. You Can't Deny That When They "Dance" With The Air, You Get Chills Down Your Spine. And Their Pinwheels Are So Amazing, Let Me Tell You. Also Me, And The Rest Of The Officer's Are Going To Candidly Interview Their Bandies For A Wonderful Feature Article That Will Be Coming Soon!.
