Orissa is considered a poor state in India, often visited by cyclones, heat waves and many more.
Rourkela shares a typical extreme climate.
Being remote adds to the disadvantage of students as well as companies coming here for
campus interview, which for the last few year have been almost 100%.
For the records, I got an offer from Accenture.
Life in Hostel is definitely fun and keeps you at your toes. With 7 different hostels built around the campus
at a maximum walking time of 15 minutes from the departments, students have never been found to be
present in class on time. Though some professors have tried to regulate this or are still trying,
others have given the hopes of doin so and become our favorites.
Though classes go on throughout the semester, students are found glued or
somewhat glued to their books (or should I say Xeroxed notes) during the exam week only.
A film or chat in the exam week is not uncommon.
The college conducts Spring Fest (NITRUtsav) and Tech Fest once in a year, giving a break of approximately
one week for students to chill out. This has led students to participate in Spring and Technical Festivals
of other colleges especially other IIT's or NIT's.
Higher studies is not that much of a charm here though you might find students trying their level best at CAT
or GATE.
Doing Bachelors from this college has the advantage of providing you with broader outlook (like staying
with people from all parts of the world).
