THE WAY I SEE THINGS

"Visual communication in our times is like a train running at full speed. Its passengers, the designers, can be made out only as shadowy figures they have no influence on where the train is going. The locomotive has no driver and supplies its own fuel." Says Lars Muller in his foreword to the book titled Pioneer of Swiss Graphic Design (1995). In the present context, confusion surrounds the criteria of judging design quality, where often the goal is to encourage effective consumerism. Viewed within this context, I have studied and tried to acquire fundamental knowledge of design resources and their effective application. Having recognised the importance of sound and solid design basics, I have jumped off that speeding train and have decided to use my own means of propulsion. Starting off as a freelance designer and illustrator allowed me time to polish and update my technical skills, acquire more skills with the advent of multimedia and, being influenced by architects, also explore the artistic potential of contemporary and unusually innovative constructive forms. I am now more and more involved in creating objective and effective contemporary design using the pure form of design and visual basics itself. My work can be categorised into 6 basic divisions: Illustrations, Image editing, 3d modeling, Cartoons, Design and Multiimedia, though most projects require the right blend of most if not all categories. In my opinion, and certainly in my network, none of them exist in isolation. For instance, creating good graphics would require a basic sense of design while the graphics could add to the visual appeal of a design layout. These categorisations attempt to organise the work and explain them more effectively. I endeavour to demonstrate in brief how intricately the various categories intertwine to create effective visual communication. A complete CD is available on request.
