I've gotten to know some really cool people in my excursions around the midwest.  I'm looking forward to getting to know more.
The thing I miss about moving and travelling most is the new friends I could be making.
Jerry Lintz
Families are such weird things.  The word family has come to mean different things to different people.  I've picked my family lately.  I have a husband who I love dearly.  I have a son who is using his charms to become the center of the entire universe, not just the center of mine.  I have a wonderful Mom, Dad and sisters, whom I count as blessings everyday.  I frequently comment on how lucky I am to have such a kind and wonderful immediate family, when so many of my friends' families are pretty disfunctional..
But I also have a bigger family.  Friends that have taken on roles as dear and precious as those people with who I share blood.  I have cousins whose last names I do not know, but I'm familiar with the life history and personal quirks of most of my close friends.
I like the concept of a chosen family because it makes those friendships more dear.  It is an admission of making friends matter so much that you sacrifice for them if need be.
