Hints to create a new character

1. Name

First of all think of a name for you character.

If it had happened so that you are lost and don't know which name to choose here is a link to a name generator... Not a bad thing.

Fantasy Name Generator

2. Choose your race

Remember that some races can't learn certain skills and thus can support only some jobs.

Note: Humans is a Universal race, which means there are no limitations on type of job or lvl you can reach in your class.

Possible races:
Dwarf    (F,C,T)
Elf        (F,R,M,C,T)
Gnome    (F,C,T)
Half-elf  (F,R,M,C,T,B)
Halfling (F,C,T)
Human    (allowed to learn any job)

3. Class/job

Fighter (F)
Priest/Cleric (P,C)
Mage/Wizard (M)
Ranger (R)
Thief (T)
Bard (B)

Note that only HUMAN race can learn any job skill.

4. Stats

Those have to be determined by the 1d20 (20 sided dice) roll.

DYING POLICY:

Since there are not many people playing... When you die you can and will be brought into the game... If you want that is. :)

5. Rolling your stats:

NOTE: ALL ROLES ARE MADE WITH THE DM. OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE TO REROLL EVERYTHING FROM THE SCRATCH.

Stats can be rolled using the 1d20 (1 20 sided dice) method. Reroll any above 18 and all below 2 you get. Do that 8 times and keep the highest 6 rolls.

If you wish to roll several sets of stats to get that "perfect set", keep this in mind; Once you roll a set and decide to roll another set, you can NEVER come back to a previous set. Once you pass it, consider it dead.

If you somehow don't meet the Class/Race requirement you may roll the dice ONCE more. If you still have a problem it is assumed you have the minimum required for your Class/Race.

6. Your character's Background

Giving your character stats is one thing, breathing life into it is quite another. A character background is a great tool for role-playing in DM's hands, quite possibly even more. Before you begin playing your character, you should think about the following. Try to fill in the blanks for your character. Even if you can't come up with much, anything is a good foundation to build from.

  • Name.
  • Race.
  • Physical description.
  • Where you are from.
  • Any family you may have (alive or dead).
  • What diety do you pray to (if any)?
  • What motivates you - what lead you to becoming what you are today (class-wise)?
  • Do you have any particularly strong likes and/or dislikes towards any thing place, object, person, race, class, or type of creature?
  • Do you have any friends or enemies of note (do you have ties to a particular mages guild for instance, or is there a bounty on your head for one reason or another, etc)?
  • Any other information you want to include to give your character a little more history or "plot lines" for the DM to be able to draw upon.

Keep in mind, that the more information you give, the more fun the DM can make the game for you!
