Draft Position:

Normally, the position of the draft (the deepest part of the arc) is in the forward third portion of the sail. As the apparent wind increases, the draft will be pushed aft. Draft position can be adjusted by halyard tension. Increasing the halyard tension can move the draft forward. decreasing halyard tension can move the draft aft.
The Angle of Entry:

Tha angle of entry affects how easily the sail will stall. A steep angle in more forgiving and will produce lift in a wider range relative to the apparent wind. This makes it easier for the helm to keep the boat moving fast. A shallow angle will allow the boat to point higher, but is more apt to stall if the helm is unsteady.
