| From: Peter Temple-Fry To: John Murphy: Editor Evesham Journal Cc: Keith Taylor Sent: 08 July 2002 17:01 Subject: Re "Future Vision of Evesham United" Dear Mr.Murphy, Many thanks for your email and correspondence, for which we apologise for not replying earlier, but this was due to our resources at the time, being used in researching other planning applications. We appreciate your offer of the chance to enlighten you, and possibly your readership, as to the activities of our group. The group originated when local residents, opposed to the move of EUFC to a green field site, met and decided to pool resources and expertise, it was later decided to formalise the group and elect a committee with the mandate to fight infringements, by developers, on similar sites in our locality. As advised to your Pat Smith we have been involved not only in the EUFC application but also have been involved in fighting the proposed TETRA Mast at Hampton (Success), the Marina development in Kings Road (Success) the Asylum Camp at Throckmorton (We hope this will be successful) and the proposed hotel/motel at Twyford (Sadly we do not expect success on this one). We cannot understand her reasons for not wanting to explain our position to your readership earlier as she was made fully aware of it. We did state to your reporter who rang me regarding the latest EUFC application, that we would be making formal representations to WDC after we have had chance to view the "Detailed Plans". To clarify our position further, at a meeting with Mr.J.Cockerton, Mr.J.Powell and the writer on the proposed site we did state that we would fully back a move of EUFC to a new ground as long as it was to a Brown Field site and not a Green Field one. As you are fully aware WDC now own the Abbey Road site including the old Abattoir and the house on site. Their own Local Plan both old and new, states that this should be used for recreational purposes. What better use than the local town football club being set near the centre of town, having no transport problems for supporters and most of all using a brown field site. This was an option put to EUFC by WDC in a "Leaders Panel" report but for whatever reasons it was rejected by their agent, Mr.J.Powell, as unsuitable. Perhaps you should ask him direct for his reasons why he chose not to move there. We too would be very interested in his reply. Our group is totally opposed to "faceless wonders" making bad decisions affecting the environment and the quality of life of local residents and then these "faceless wonders" hiding under the cloak, of bureaucracy. It is ironic, that this bureaucracy is paid for by local council tax payers. We feel we all deserve better value than that which we are now getting from these "Ivory Tower" residents. We assure you, that we will continue to oppose this application and any other which may result in unwarranted development on local Green Field sites. Trusting this clarifies our position and should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact us. Regards, P. J.Temple-Fry.
