Oh my goodness! The Sistine Chapel is amazing! Your neck is craned the entire time your walking to the chapel but IT'S WORTH IT. All the frescoes on the side walls are magnificent but most people go there for the ceiling painted by Michelangelo. The colors are very vivid due to restoration of the frescoes. I wanted to lay on the benches and just look at everything but there was a sign "prohibiting lounging". That's alright - I'm so content; a dream come true!
Afterwards we went to the Via del Corso to do last minute shopping. Had gelato at 10:00 in the morning, what a healthy breakfast. Got back to the hotel at 11:15 in time to check out and catch a cab to the airport at 12:00PM.
Due to bad weather the flight was moved to 1:25PM from 3:00PM. Arrived at Charles De Gaulle at 3:45 to transfer to another plane which departed at 6:05 PM (but actually left the tarmac at 8:00PM). Slept most of the way back and arrived at LAX at 10:00PM P.S.T. (7:00 AM back in Paris). All together it was a 12 hour flight. Good to be back. Now for the jet-lag...
