| Piazza Navona, one of the most superb squares of Rome, is built over the ruins of the Stadium of Domitian (used to be a racing track). Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Steps), for 3 centuries it has been the tourist center of Rome. The area surrounding the Steps is very busy with shops, restaurants and lots of people. This is where we bid farewell to Paolo. Great driver! We all missed him, especially when we started hailing taxis to take us elsewhere in town. Had lunch (good food again) and then shopped on Via del Corso. Most of the stores close from 1:00 - 3:00 for lunch. Lunch is very serious business! Finally taxied back to the hotel. Auntie and I decided to go to the Rome Terminii and check out the shops and outside vendors. Found a little restaurant called "PastaritO-PizzaritO" that served food family-style. Between the 2 of us we spent only 15.08 euro! That was for a bowl of pasta, salad, wine and cappucino. The best price yet! Meanwhile Mom and Pop strolled the streets and had a nice dinner together. |
