Digital Modulation and Detection:
In the last few years communication has come a long way .Advancements in hardware and digital signal processing has made digital transceivers much cheaper and more abundant as well as faster and more efficient than before .All this made the need for digital modulation techniques rise in the last few years for it has a lot of advantages over standard analog modulation techniques.
In this project I will first discuss the several digital modulation techniques that are being widely used these days .I will then explore these techniques in details and I will analyze these techniques using a fairly new method known as the signal space technique .I will identify what is known as the basis function and how using these functions makes a signal space really easy to understand and how it makes it easier to discriminate between various digital modulation techniques .I will also mention the difference between the coherent and non coherent detectors used in digital modulation .
By the end of this report ,I will show how Digital modulation has many advantages over analog modulation techniques such as higher data rates, powerful error correction techniques, resistance to channel impairments, more efficient multiple access strategies, and better security and privacy.
And finally I will use MATLAB simulation in order to simulate the various digital modulation techniques used such as FSK(Frequency shift keying),ASK(Amplitude shift modulation),QPSK(Quadrature shift keying).I will use programming in order to simulate how both the transmitter and the receiver work and I will plot the results at several points .
I will divide my time as follows:
First week: working on the analysis of the ASK and FSK
techniques
Second week Simulation of ASK and FSK techniques
Third week working on the analysis of QPSK,M-ary techniques
Fourth week simulation of QPSK
