Who’s the One I Love?

Rated: R

Warnings: Goku and Chi Chi… (Hint, hint, nudge, nudge, wink, wink)

Setting: For all of those new comers out there, I guess or at least hope you know that when Goku was a baby, he was mean and wild until he hit his head in an accident and lost his memory causing him to become "good."  This new good personality remained and increased into his mind, although it was never explained if the "former" Goku still existed deep down.

Here we go!!!!

"Here you are Goku," Chi Chi said sweetly to Goku as she placed his lunch plates in front of him.

"Thank you Chi Chi!" he said in his usual cheery voice, although a little faker at the moment.  He began to eat, just a little slower than usual.

When she looked at him he smiled back, just a little duller than usual.  She raised an eyebrow and he gave her an assuring look, just a little to unassuming to be taken seriously.

He placed his last plate in the sink, just a little harder than usual.  It chipped.

"Oh!  Gosh, I’m sorry Chi Chi.  I didn’t mean to!" he shouted.

"Oh that’s okay, I do that all of the time, you’ll still eat off of it any way," she said jokingly.

He laughed and turned away to go upstairs.  When he turned it seemed slow motion for Chi Chi, she caught his whole face clearly as he turned.  A trace of a possible tear shown in his eye, his smile ended the second he turned, and his eyebrows showed worry.

She watched him walk, just a little slower up the stairs… just a little slower…

Everything was just a little, JUST a little different.  She watched, studied him and his every move to the last sight of him until he turned the corner.

She closed her eyes, thinking.  "Just a little different is just a little to different for me…" she said slowly, and quietly stalking up the stairs.

He had originally went upstairs to change, but it didn’t look like he was doing much of that at the moment.  He sat at the end of the bed holding his head lightly, with only his shirt off.  He moved his arm to his own arms and sort of hugged himself as if he were cold.

She remained observing from the doorway.  He sensed a presence.

"WHO’S THERE!?" he yelled angrily.

She jumped at the sound and tone of his voice.  "I… It’s only me," she choked out.

"Oh…Chi Chi," he corrected himself.

"Are you okay?" she asked, entering the room.

"Yeah… I’m fine," he said calmly and mellowly.

She sat down by him.  "Are you sure?  I’m worried about you Goku, you aren’t acting yourself today, actually it’s been for a few days," she said solemnly and worried.

"I’m fine," Goku said sternly.

"See that’s exactly what I mean.  Your tone of voice, everything."

He smiled to say he was fine.

"That smile!  Goku, what’s wrong?  Please tell me.  I know you’re lying, it’s in your smile!!  You can’t keep it from me much longer," she scolded.

His expression turned to anger as he almost growled.  Chi Chi’s eyes filled with fear as if he might attack her.  He caught himself before any sort of words escaped his mouth, he looked at her in shock.  She looked at him frightened, his expression had been so dark and angry that she knew how it felt to fight him in battle.

"I… I" he tried to explain.  He shook his head, disappointed of himself and reached a hand out to touch her.

She never took her fear struck eyes off his hand as it moved towards her, as it touched her she squinted her eyes and then slowly opened them realizing he wasn’t going to hurt her.

He shook his head again and pulled her up to himself.  "I am sorry Chi Chi, I wasn’t mad at you."  There was a certain emphasis in "I", but she ignored it.  Emotions raced across his face that she couldn’t read.

That confused her, she knew every expression he had possible for that face of his, but yet… these she couldn’t recognize.  "Goku please tell me," she pleaded.

He shook his head no.

She let out a sigh of defeat.  She could make him obey her easily when she was angry, he was even afraid of her sometimes.  She could make him do whatever she wanted.  But once, every millennium, it seemed there was a certain mood he entered that couldn't be altered.  "Okay, but if you ever want to talk to me about it, you know I’ll listen," she said to him with a serious look.

He looked back into her eyes looking like he might burst into tears.  "I love you, please know I love you!" he said as he pulled her up closer to him like a little kid does to his mother when he cries.  But no tears were shed, he just held her close like he didn’t want her to leave.

"That’s a silly thing to say.  I’ve known that ever since we were little kids," she said releasing herself.  She walked slowly out the door back to the kitchen.

He watched her leave with large and quivering eyes.  "I can’t hurt her.  I can’t let myself," he said as he looked at his hands.  He closed his eyes in anger at himself.

"I can do it.  I’ve done it all my life, now why now?  Why am I losing control?  This is me!  I’m Goku, I know who I am.  I could never hurt Chi Chi… and yet back there… I felt so angry… I might have actually hurt her."  He clenched his fists.

"Why!?  Tell me why!!?" he yelled at himself.  "WHHHYYY!!!???"

Chi Chi dropped the dish that was currently in her hand.  "Goku!?" She yelled running upstairs to see why he screamed.

To be continued…

What a dreaded place to end huh?  Doesn’t it just make you want to read my mind to find out what’s next!?  That means you’ll just have to stick around to find out "WHHHHHYYY!!!???"
