Destined Virtues
Chapter 14 by Tokumei
Kibon
That same night...
He watched her in the silence of the
night. He still was trying to let all the things, one simple meeting, sink
in. Even though he’d known it was the truth, he couldn’t believe
it. It was distorting his program and main objective, he couldn’t have
it infecting Juuichi either.
Juuni-gou bent over the sleeping figure of his android counterpart and his hands reached forward...
Gohan slipped into his shorts and dragged himself into bed. A few says ago, when he met with the androids, he sighed, it was not how he had expected it to go. He sighed a deep sigh and pulled the covers up a little. He had some serious thinking to do.
So many questions begin with “Why”. I need to find out so many things, but no one is willing to support my curiosity about my parents. Beginning to feel a slight headache he got out of bed and opened his window and took in to crisp beautiful air.
The sky looked mesmerizing as the faint
pinks finally settled into a dark shimmering blue.
Without a second thought, Gohan jumped out the second floor bedroom window and landed with sheer grace. He swiftly began to move with fluent swift movements, as his breathe slowed and his eyes closed. His arms moved with the wind and his legs like water, he was at peace for that instant.
Something stirred in the bushes. Gohan felt another’s presence and quickly moved into a defensive position. He made sure to keep his ki concealed, not wanting to alert the others just yet. The only danger out there was his parents, and just days ago, they’d made it pretty clear that they wouldn’t hurt him.
Clear enough… Gohan thought as his eyes searched through the night. Then he felt it, not as strong as he thought but still faint, a ki, hidden in the forest to his left. He started to relax and was about to head over there to see if anyone needed help, but then something hit him.
Gohan quickly countered with a pulled punch to whom ever hit him. From what he felt, this person wasn’t as strong as he, and he didn’t want to kill them.
His eyes adjusted and he saw, sprawled in front of him a girl, about his age, he noted. She was coughing and her sky blue eyes were filled with rage and hate, he decided to keep his distance.
“Stay back! Don’t hurt my father!” she screamed, her frail voice mixed with fear and anguish and she had spots of dried blood on her shirt.
“I... I won’t hurt your father. I just want to help.” Gohan didn’t know what to do; he’d never dealt with something like this before.
“NO, stay BACK!” she kept screamed and yelling things that didn’t make any sense, but he knew if she kept yelling like that, the others would surely come to investigate. He walked slowly over to her, but she kept creeping back until she backed up against the gate of their outdoor training center. She hissed and through some dirt at him, which he carefully dodged.
“Look. I don’t know what you’re talking about, but you have to be quiet or I won’t be able to help you and your father. Is he the one in the forest?” he asked, pointing over to where he was about to go. She nodded slowly and began to silently cry.
“You… you aren’t going to hurt him are you?” She started to sob a bit. “Those... those bandits just wanted our money, and... and we gave them it, but they started to hurt him.” She broke down and Gohan had to hold her in his arms or she would have collapsed. “I tried! I... tried... is he ok?” she asked hopefully through tears as she looked up at Gohan.
“He’s still alive, I can tell you that much. You have to trust me, I can get him medical attention ok?” he said in a soft voice, which he hadn’t heard himself use in a long time. To much fighting… he thought as he brought the girl to her feet. She clung tightly to his shoulder, and he wondered if she had tried to take on those men and had gotten hurt too. “You look tired, here.” He scooped her up and she silently blushed at the display.
“What’s your name?” she asked quietly.
“Son Gohan,” he said proudly and looked down to she her blushing slightly, which made him a bit uncomfortable, but not by much.
“What’s yours?”
“Videl. Videl Satan,” she said meekly and looked out into the darkness of the forest.
