Destined Virtues
Chapter 15 by Tokumei Kibon

Juuni stared at her back. His work cut out for him, he searched for the correct wires.  Careful not to disrupt any of her other systems that lay spread over her human flesh, he crossed two wires and punched in a few simple but direct instructions through the small basic switch panel on her lower back.

I’m so sorry Juuichi-gou.  He stared at his betraying hands.  At least… this is only temporary… Until I- we, find out what exactly we’re going to do on this planet now.

Gohan had carried Videl’s father back to the headquarters and he was getting his injuries taken care of.  Right now he was sitting in a chair next to the bed where the tired out girl rest.  She almost lost her father... but no one should be alone at this time.  This... hell, that Chikyuu has been turned into.  By my...  He fought with himself.  He still had a lot to think of, and it was very late indeed.

She began to stir, and her eyes opened.  Giving them a few rubs, she looked around the room, nicer than what she had currently been living in.  Her eyes finally fell into the dark depths she had peered into before.  “Oh!  Son Gohan-san!  Gohan-san…”  Videl noticed some sadness in those eyes, but it looked as though he were stronger than she thought.  Those eyes, wild, and yet... so focused.  I like those eyes.  She smiled at him and received one in return.

“Ano... Videl-san...” his voice was soft and pure, as he looked at her in a bit embarrassed way.

“Why were you and your father on the property?”

She stared at him, unwilling to confess about the alliance, yet those eyes…

“I must be honest with you Son Gohan-san.  There is a group of people, I am one and my father knows about it.  Only the strong are capable of joining it.  We are formed into an alliance to try and rebel against the suffering.  Rebel, against the war we are at.  It’s an underground thing, so you may have or may not heard of it.”

She looked away to stare out to the training field below.  “But... I’ve seen your power.  I was there when you saved many people from a fire along with your friends long ago.  Gohan-san... you must help us.”

“You think you’re the only ones trying to make a difference?  My friends and I have been risking our lives for years against the androids!”  Gohan stood up and looked out the window also.  “We are planning an attack, tomorrow at noon.  We think the androids might be in the next town over...”

He looked so sincere, she blushed and moved her gaze downward for a moment, then a look of determination overtook her face.  “I’m coming too.”

“What?!!  It’s too dangerous for you, I think you should stay here and look after your father!” Gohan was a bit unnerved that this girl wanted to endanger herself when she didn’t even look capable of bukujutsu.

“I will, and it’s not like you can stop me.  I have to leave anyway.”  Videl got out of the bed and walked over to the table that her regular clothing was on.

“You can’t.  I won’t protect you.”

“You won’t... have to.”  She smiled and Gohan sighed.

“Videl-san, please!”

She looked back at him and her smile widened a bit.  “I can fight, trust me, and please, call me Videl.  Just Videl.”

Gohan just let out a long groan and walked out behind her.  “Really, Videl-san, I mean, Videl, you can’t go.  I forbid you!”  Gohan put on a fake stern look and frowned down at her.  I have to admit, she’s funny and, he blushed a bit but still tried to stare her down, she’s cute.

“Gohan-kun, I’m going.”  She stood in front of him staring him in the eyes with her fists firmly planted on her hips.

They both smiled and colour fled to their cheeks a bit.

“WOOOOAH!!  Hope we not disturbing anything Gooohan!  Hehhehehe”  Kuririn and Yamucha stood at the end of the hall whistling and yelling, “Go for it!!” at them.

“Ugghhh... Guys!!!  Leave me alone!!” Gohan pleaded with an embarrassed look plastered on his face while Videl just looked at the ground meekly.

“Ha hahaha!!  Ok, ok Gohan!  Videl!”  Yamucha laughed and Kuririn looked at them.

“I’m coming to the supposed fight tomorrow guys!” Videl said as she eagerly went off to check on Mr. Satan.

“Gohan?  She’s... uh?”  Kuririn looked shocked when he had heard about Videl and Gohan just looked horsewhipped.

“Kuririn-san... don’t even ask.  Really, don’t even ask.”
