The Early Years Ray Stroud (Born Rasputin Strodoszawicz) arrived in the world on 10th April 1918, in Marijampole, Lithuania. The son of a nectar inspector and a llama farmer, Ray showed a prodigious talent for broadcasting, making his debut radio appearance at only 7 months old. Lo, a radio star was born.

This first performance, singing "Yes mother" on the popular Jurgis n' Azuolas Show was heard by none other than entertainment supremo Danny Baker (then at Radio Srebrenica) who employed little Ray on the spot. Ray's career continued apace until the 1970s, when radio stars across Europe were threatened by a widespread culling at the hands of video stars. Plucky Ray fled to England, where he settled in a leafy suburb of London called Yorkshire.

The Early Eighties Having learned the Yorkshire language, Ray got himself a job at Radio Allerton. Ray played requests for the inmates of Chapel Allerton Psychiatric Hospital, and met and married Margaret. From there, Ray spent a few happy years at both Pennine FM and Aire FM before making a high-profile move to Magic 828 to share his encyclopaedic knowledge of inoffensive 1970s music. Ray's most recent move led him to Harrogate, and Stray FM. More information here.
