Factions

The Camarilla

This largest group of Vampires in the world, and is the ruling body of Chicago. Consisting of a single Prince and a council called the Primogen, this Chicago sect of the Damned's society seek to keep the Kindred away from the Inquisition and the fires of mankind.

The Prince has contacts with the Camarilla of other cities, such as Milwaukee to the north and Gary to the south. In fact, a rivalry between the Prince of Chicago and the Prince of Gary is a source for many Vampire deaths. The Prince, with the support of the Primogen, is currently conducting three wars in Chicago. He seeks to destroy the Prince of Gary, put down the Anarch population in his city, and the destruction of the Sabbat, a long-time enemy of the Camarilla across the globe.

This group sees the Sabbat as an violent cult that has grown to big over the centuries. The Anarchs are nothing but young gangsters that seek to overthrow the established Elders of the communtiy.

The Sabbat

At the end of the Dark Ages humanity fought back against the creatures of the night. Vampires were forced to run for their unlives. Some of the vampires, members of a newly formed Camarilla, decided to fight instead of flee. Well, they didn't fight, they sent newly created vampires to fight for them. These neonate vampires decided not to fight for cowardly masters and began to fight a new war. These neonates became the Anarchs. After years of the Inquisition and the Anarch Revolt, the Camarilla decided to end it with a treaty. Most Anarchs agreed to end the war. Some did not, and they became the Sabbat.

Never getting over their angry towards the Camarilla, these vampires turned towards an even darker evil in an attempt to gain power. Though now the goal is no longer to destroy the Camarilla but to gain personal power, they still war with the Elders. Much of the West Coast of the United States is under Sabbat control, as is most of Canada. They have spies and informants in many Camarilla cities, including Milwaukee and Chicago, and they are waiting for their chance to bring down other vampires and eventually bring humanity under open and direct control of all Kindred.

The Anarchs

The Anarch Revolt that brought about the Sabbat ended also with the creation of the Anarchs. They do not make war with the Camarilla Elders, but they try to annoy and harass them, just for fun. They do not seek to hide from the Mortals and fight each other as the Camarilla would have them. They also don't want to destroy the world just for the fun of it, as the Sabbat do. They just want to live (well, exist) without rules, free to do as they please.

The Camarilla hate them because they don't serve any purpose. They won't fight unless they are provoked, and they might attack anyone, not just the Sabbat. They constantly war between themselves in gangs on the city streets. They frequent clubs and bars, and do nothing lasting. They are a constant thorn in the Camarilla's side. The Sabbat make incursions everywhere and take over city after city because the Anarchs keep the defenses weak and occupied with trivial matters. The Chicago prince has concieved a plan to ride his domain of the Anarchs, little do they know.

The Traditions

Not all of the citizens of the World of Darkness are Vampires. Some Mortals have long known how to shape Reality into what they wanted. They were the Mages. The ancient Mages, the ones who work what Hollywood calls 'magic' are seperated into seveal sects collectively know as the Traditions (just as several clans make up the Camarilla or the Sabbat). Each sect has different goals, but all can create fantastic, if hard to believe, magical effects on the world.

Vampires dislike these magic-using Mortals, and any Kindred who interact with them are punished (except the Tremere clan, who were once Mages themselves, long ago). Depending on what sect they belong, the Tradition Mages can be bookish researchers or tribal shamans or Voodoo wizards in Cuba. They are currently at war with the Technocracy and the Nephandi, other large groups of Mages. The Technocracy seems to have won the Ascension War, however, and the Traditions are picking up the pieces.

The Nephandi

While the majority of Mages seek to Ascend themselves and the world to some other, higher state of being, the Nephandi seek to Descend and destroy the world in order to make it better. They are evil and sadistic. They are loners and rarely work together towards their many hateful goals. One of the most horrible goal that these mages have is the release of Malfeas, an evil angel that is supposed to bring about the earth's destruction.

A constant war rages between the Nephandi and just about every other faction in the world. The Vampires can't stand mages. The Lupines see the evil in the Nephandi. The Warlocks see the embodiment of what they are trying to rid the earth. Only their own disgusting creations and dark spirit allies aid the Nephandi. It has been enough to keep them a powerful threat through the centuries.

Werewolves

The Lupines of my Chronicle are powerful individually and nearly unstoppable in their packs. Too bad they are almost always in packs. Every werewolf follows a Totem, and animal spirit that guides them. The that are most active in Chicago and Milwaukee are the Coyote and Raven totems. Working withing the cities themselves (instead of attacking from without) is the Mouse totem.

They are proud and noble, and they have their own view on how the world should be run. Believing themselves to be mother nature's protectors, the seek out and destroy vampires and Mages and any creature they consider 'tainted.' Years ago, the Raven and Coyote totems have believed the other to have taken a powerful artifact, an ancient tablet. They have warred with each other, and now they find out that the artifact is, in fact, in Milwaukee. They begin the Chronicle trying to get that tablet.
