CAD/CAM/CAE department currently provides C.A.E support to the entire tooling needs of TELCO. Readily available inhouse facilities ensure a closer process control, thereby reducing throughput design and manufacturing time and bring down product costs considerably.

Design & Modelling

CAD/CAM Division of Tata Technologies has skills to develop concepts, design and prototype products and generate full manufacturing drawings.

Conceptual solutions are derived through the synergistic efforts of both Engineering Automation Group (EAG) and our clients thus developing a solid ground work for the conceptual model. A series of renderings is presented and evaluated for the optimal look and mechanical functionality. A final approval leads to the manufacture of a physical model.

Design can be completed to any level desired. From a primary layout, sketches for prototype models to full scale production drawings as per standards. We can also review clients' existing or in-process design and recommend steps to improve safety, reduce manufacturing cost and enhance performance.

Analysis

Optris (Optimal Transient Analysis) is a software tool which acts like a virtual press, and helps to simulate the behaviour of the material during the forming process. We can also simulate the springback in sheetmetal components after drawing and trimming for corrective action at the design stage.

For fast, accurate prediction of formability of sheet-metal, optimum sheet size, blankholder shape and drawbead positioning, and suggestions for the correction of the tooling elements, we offer services, backed by the collective experience in toolmaking and analysis.

Assembly Analysis

In the design of tooling for engine components, like gray-iron castings of exhaust manifolds, cylinder block and aluminium castings of intake manifolds, cylinder head it is difficult to check the assembly of cores and patterns for interference manually by taking sections. Any defects in these toolings result in thinning of the casting walls, improper assembly and loss of substantial time and money in the proving stage. To avoid this we use Megavision, which has capabilities like dynamic sectioning, and animation for assembly.

CAM Solutions

We have a strong CAM infrastructure consisting of 50 seats of EUCLID-3 Milling module capable of generating 2D as well as 3D CNC/laser programs in 2 1/2 axis, 3 axis and 5 axis machining styles . We have the added benefit of inhouse machining facilities via DNC integrated links for production of all tooling components, models, etc.

We specialize in CNC programming and machining a variety of materials ranging from the softest thermocole to the hardest steels.

We also generate 3 and 5 axis laser programs to offer virtually burr free components with repetitive consistency.

We have the capabilities, the commitment and the craftsmanship for unparalled precision to meet the simplest to most complex machining requirements. If your needs are for close tolerance and finely finished CNC production machining, EAG offers outstanding quality with absolute committment to your delivery requirements.

Post-processor development:

We offer customised software for creating postprocessor output for any type of CNC controllers, starting from CLF files; or from existing NC code for any controller to another controller. ex. Fidia to Fanuc, Fidia to Sinumerik etc.�

Euclid3 Users:

For those who are using Euclid3 (Matra-Datavision) CAD�software we offer specialised help in customising and creating applications using Eucild3 API, backed by more than 10 years of experience on Euclid3 application programming and interactive usage.

CAS.CADE related technologies:

Applications which interface proprietary knowledge bases with CAS.CADE�(Matra-Datavision)�related products are our speciality.

Verification of NC�codes:

Working with STL�data for surfaces, and an ASCII�NC code file we provide fast reliable checking for tool gouging and spindle fouling. This can be interfaced with your software to provide for graphical checking.

Training

We offer training on the various modules of Euclid CAE software marketed by Matra Datavision, France. Because of our extensive usage of this software, it offers a practical approach to training. We emphasise those features of the software package which enable students to become productive more rapidly namely modelling, CNC program generation and CNC machining techniques. We also offer extensive courses on laser cutting techniques and program generation.

The division provides comprehensive training programs for CNC simulation softwares based on NCSIMUL package marketed by Spring, France. We train students in Finite element analysis and modelling using Optris/Ficture software marketed by Dynamic Software, France.

On the IT front, we offer practical oriented courses in Application development incorporating KBE, Database Object management, Internet programming, Open GL and Inventor programming, Development of Management information services, Networking. These are usually based on Fortran, Unix, Irix, C , C++, Perl & HTML.

Generally, training programmes are for personnels of a single company. This helps us focus on the individual needs of that company. We have a highly experienced personnel who assist students in getting a hands-on experience in this field.
