Where was everybody? Gohan said he would stop by today, and Goten was supposed to be home hours ago! It wasn't fair, Chi Chi thought. Her husband died and her sons just left her all by herself. She sighed. She had never felt so alone.

Well, if Gohan and Goten weren't going to come to her, she would come to them. Chi Chi set out to the Capsule Corps building, where she thought Goten would be. As she walked she stared at the ground, wallowing in self pity.

---------- Vegeta lay motionless on the ground. He felt strange, like he was asleep. But of course, he wasn't. It was the middle of the day, and he had just tried to defeat Hyakuhei. It hadn't worked. He tried to sit up. Now why couldn't he move?

He was tired, so tired. Vegeta's eyes were half closed, and he tried to close them all the way. They wouldn't budge. It was ridiculous that he couldn't even do something as simple as close his eyes. What had that freak done to him?

Someone laid a hand over his eyes and blocked them from the bright rays of the sun. Vegeta felt a person lift him onto something, and tried to tell them he didn't need help, he was a Super Saiya-jin and did not need a human to help him. He drowsily heard a soothing voice whisper something unintelligible before deep, soft blackness enveloped his mind.

The paramedic next to him sighed softly.

"Poor guy," she said, slightly in awe of the powerful-looking, battered man on the stretcher. She quickly hooked an oxygen mask on his face and scanned his body for serious wounds.

This guy was a mess. His hand was completely pulverized, his skull was bashed in, his face was just plain squashed, and he had at least half a dozen broken ribs, not to mention all the cuts and bruises scattered over his body. She did not want to meet up with whatever did this guy over.

The ambulance pulled into the lot and the driver shouted for some help. The two paramedics rushed to wheel the guy out and get him some medical attention.

Hours later, the small group of doctors that had been examining Vegeta exited the room. Vegeta was in a coma, and the chances of him pulling out were slim to none.

----------

Chi Chi arrived at Capsule Corps and stomped in. She looked around and saw no one. She mentally listed how she was going to punish her son when she heard a strange noise. It was soft and muffled, and sounded so familiar...

She pushed open a door and her anger melted away at what she saw.

Little Bra was sitting on the floor, tears streaming down her face. Chi Chi sank down to the girl's level and Bra looked up at her with huge, watery eyes.

"What's wrong?" Chi Chi asked, holding out her arms. Bra flew into them and cried louder.

"Every-everybody's gone! And-and I don't know where they went and I-I don't think they're coming back!" Bra sobbed. Chi Chi held the little girl until the last of her sobs subsided.

"I'm going to take you to my house. Your parents shouldn't have left you here by yourself, and besides, it's so empty with everyone gone," Chi Chi told Bra, who nodded enthusiastically. Together, Bra and Chi Chi left for the Son house.

----------

Hyakuhei gazed out at the humans. They hadn't noticed his return. He smiled, then teleported next to the group of humans who were working. They didn't notice him, just worked silently on their task. Good, Hyakuhei thought. The brain wave modifiers were beginning to work. In a short time these humans will have lost any other thoughts in their head and will be able to concentrate solely on what he had assigned them.

Hyakuhei turned to look at a human behind him. This one had a strange energy coming from him. The man was pale and though he was working, he also looked ill. That was not supposed to happen, but it did not matter much. The death of one more human out of many would not affect his plan.

A short, balding man rushed up to Hyakuhei and shoved a piece of paper under his nose.

"Look at our marvelous plan!" cried the man gleefully. Hyakuhei scanned over the paper with vague interest. It was the blueprints for a weak laser blaster.

"This is not your assignment," Hyakuhei told him. The man started giggling. Hyakuhei raised an eyebrow as the man threw back his head and roared with laughter. Soon, the man rolled on the floor, tears streaming out of his eyes while he giggled uncontrollably. A large sweatdrop appeared on Hyakuhei's forehead. Still the man laughed.

It must be a side effect from the modifiers, thought Hyakuhei. He sighed inwardly. He had overestimated the strength of the human mind. Perhaps he could find a stronger, more intelligent race...

No, there wasn't enough time. He would just have to get rid of this one. Emotionlessly, Hyakuhei lifted a hand and quickly blasted the man, reducing him to a pile of coal black dust.

"Get back to work," he commanded gruffly, before turning around and stalking through the misty halls to his personal chamber.

----------

Puar laughed truimphantly as he placed the 6th Dragonball next to the others. After Oolong got the last Dragonball, they'd be able to wish Goku back, and hopefully he would come through...
