Married at Benton, Tuesday morning, January 31st 1899 by Rev. Father Bergan, Mr. Ben Heitkamp and Miss Katie Byrne both of Cuba City (Wisconsin). Miss Mollie Byrne was bridesmaid and Mr. Herman Liefker acted as best man. The Bride is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byrne, one of our most prosperous farmers and was born and grew to womanhood in this immediate vicinity. She is a young lady esteemed and respected for virtues of heart and mind by a large host of friends and has always been a popular favorite in her social circle. The groom, who is of the firm of Heitkamp Bros., in the store and also in the grain business, is identified as one of our most energetic and enterprising young business men. He is a genial and curtous young man, and during his four years as a resident of Cuba City has made many warm friends. The happy young couple start life with the brightest prospects and surroundings, and the NEWS joins with their many friends in wishing such may it be- A long, happy and contented wedding life.

I own one prayer book carried in wedding ceremony by Bernard Heitkamp. Stella Rae Butts Hargrave owns the one belonging to Katie Byrne. We each have one of a set of matching pillow cases with tatted edges made by Katie. These same prayor books were carried by Stella and her husband Chuck in their own wedding 85 years later. 1984.
