We have the fortune of being acquainted with Mr. Peter MacIntosh (pictured at right), the founder of the excellent Kyoto tour company Kyoto Sights and Nights, and his wife, Yuka Morikawa MacIntosh, who used to work as the tayuu Hanagumo. They say that connections are everything in Kyoto, and fortunately, with our connections we have access to the inner workings of the flower and willow world of the maiko and geiko, as well as the treasures kept within. It is our vision to bring these incredible and oft surreal treasures into your home. Our friends in Kyoto continue to help us find the best shops and authenticate anything we may come across, so that we bring only the best authentic Japanese goods to you.
We take 3-4 trips to Kyoto each year to hand-pick the highest quality and most unusual things we can find and bring back to America. Our items our among the rarest and highest in quality that one can find on the Web.
We hold many exhibitions of antique kimono and kanzashi throughout the year. There is an annual exhibition at the Linden Gallery of Asian Antiques, and we are always present at the Madison Antique Show. We also have an exhibit at the Sturgeon Bay Museum in Door County, Wisconsin. If you are in the Wisconsin area and feel like dropping in, we would love to meet some of our customers! We're sure you will find the exhibits fascinating and informative. We have exhibits at the Chicago Antique Show and the former Tigerman Gallery, which is in the also in Chicago area, and those of you who can make the trip are more than welcome to take a look!
