A happy, soft-voiced child, Aeremet loves to look at the stars. He shares his mother with half-brother Indera, and they are quite close. When Thread took Indera's father, their mother insisted that they both be sent to a safer place while she looked after their other younger siblings. So at age 13, Aeremet was sent to Dawnlight hold, to learn glasscrafting. With his favored activity being stargazing, it became apparent that this apprentice would make a better starcrafter than glazier, but his skills were quite well developed.

By the time he and Indera had been in Dawnlight for two years, both of them had been Searched. A'rd on his blue Trelerth of course passed through his old Hold, and while there couldn't resist allowing the blue his 'nose'. Today, two turns later, Aeremet is a senior Apprentice Starcrafter, and holding out as an apprentice glass crafter as well.

Dawnlight sent both brothers to Raanatani's cothold for their further education, as well as because they were both getting too old to keep with the younger kids. Their education is largely complete.

Aeremet is a tall but softly lined teen, with light skin, silvery blond hair, and pale blue-green eyes. He has a long body, with short legs, and his face is extremely 'cute'. He has always been very popular with the girls of Dawnlight, and they miss him. He loved to speak of children of his own, and if he does Impress a dragon, he knows that whoever he finds with the assistance of a dragon will certainly be a fine child indeed. He is torn though: he loves children, but as a dragonrider, would he be able to raise them? He knows that Raanatani's cothold would be the best place for his fosterlings.

Aeremet is a loving, caring boy, with a fierce hatred for the red star. His brother's father was not the only victim of it, and he knows that the progress that might be made by starcrafters like himself upon dragons will be best for the whole of Pern.

He wishes to impress a blue, perhaps a brown dragon. Though he knows that a Bronze would attract the higher-ranking women on golden dragons, he would have far too little time to do what he must in his craft. He is brave, but he is also very careful when using his equipment. He carries with him at all times a set of distance lenses, which he often pulls out either to impress girls, or to check the skies for Thread.

Aeremet will shorten his name to R'met or Ae'ret.
"Two clutches?" Aeremet said to the search rider, "two? That's amazing, on the same sands! Talor Cliff certainly is a wonderfully healthy weyr!..." The others in the Fosterling cothold were asleep by now, but Aeremet had been out at his typical hill to watch the stars and the skies. When he saw a blue dragon descending to the grounds, he knew something was up: Thread wasn't due to fall around these parts for at least a sevenday.

Nora and Mitanth were a half-common sight at this and other cotholds and larger holdings, and Aeremet grinned widely at having the chance to meet a real search rider for once.

"I've already been told that I would be a good candidate," Aeremet said to Nora. The woman nodded.

"That's what Mitanth said. So... there are lots of eggs. And you look ready for the challenge of becoming a weyrling. How about it?"

"I will!" Aeremet cried, and darted into the cothold's main rooms to find a sleepy Raanatani to tell his good news to!

Aeremet and the other candidates were awakened early this day. They'd been getting to know one another, they would have to: they'd be weyrlings together for the next two turns!

Groggily, they staggered out, but then were told to get into their white candidate's robes! The hatching perked them up -- most of them anyway!
It was barely moments after the candidates had been moved into the hot hatching sands when the first egg shattered, revealing a brown. He impressed, and then greens came for their lifemates.

Blue was next impressing a boy with two firelizards. A brown and another blue broke shell, then went to their friends as soon as they figured out which humans were right for them.

Two greens anda blue hatched, and selected from among the remaining candidates.

About this time, Aeremet was beginning to wonder if he'd impress. There were few eggs left, and surely those which were left were small and ... hatching next was a pair of browns...

Aeremet remained silent, though he felt something. He had originally brushed off the tremendous hunger in his belly because he was used to a hearty breakfast here at the weyr, right about this time of morning. But that wasn't it at all!
Three eggs hatched at once, two blue and one green. At last, Aeremet realized that the hunger in his head and stomach was coming from one of the blues! He and Greton impressed each of the blues, and grinned at one another.

"What's yours named?" They both asked, and in response, Aeremet felt a voice clearly in his mind.

I am Jalanath! I am so hungry!

"Jalanath," Aeremet said, then added to his dragon quietly, "I know you're hungry... so am I but you'll like the meat raw better then I would..." He led his hatchling away from the hot sands, and was on his way to becoming a true dragon rider!
