Day 5--11 Feb 03
Laxey to Douglas
Day 5 produced a beautiful clear and sunny day for our final 9 mile walk into Douglas, and the conclusion of the Raad ny Foillan. However, immediately on leaving Laxey we turned up a beautiful well maintained glen, which unfortunately turned into the back garden of a private house. The owner was extremely helpful and soon had us back on the right track, but we would have preferred a picnic on the back lawn! The Raad ny Foillan was completed at noon, and were able to freshen ourselves up in the following hour as the Chesterhouse Hotel allowed us to return to our rooms.
The afternoon was free time before the scheduled departure for Heysham at 7.45 pm. Little did we know it, but the most exciting adventure was yet to unfold!
