On my free afternoon I intended to visit the home of an ex Ravenshead resident, who had moved to the Isle of Man two years ago. Unfortunately I had misplaced the address details, but knowing that it was somewhere around Onchan Head, and King Edward came to mind, backing on to the tram line, I managed to find the bungalow. The neighbours were particularly helpful, and coincidently the immediate neighbour came out her front door as I approached. The sad news was that the person I was tracing was on holiday in America!
We all gathered at the sea terminal for the 7.45 pm departure to Heysham. we arrived back in Douglas at 6pm!...the boat anchored outside Heysham for 13 hours hoping that the fog would clear. Since that did not occur we were forced to return! We were met by the Manx Radio interviewer, and the Manx press photographer. We eventually left for the second time on a special 11 pm sailing to Liverpool, arriving around 3.30 am, then we were bused to Heysham at 5 am, and so home at 8.50 am, 27 hours late!
