Landed in Dubai on July 2nd 2003 for a 4-months business trip. I was not only impressed by the beautiful airport but also by a surprise was waiting for me. The visa was not yet issued and so I had to spend the night at the airport-hotel. Next day, I could get out of the airport by a copy of the visa and a help of a nice lady. The original visa was not yet available. I would like to thank the nice lady for her kind help.
I would say "lack of planning ahead" for any expected problems was the obvious character of the people there.
The city of Dubai was very well organised and obviously very rich. The city has been westernised much, I had to speak only English in most of the places there. Now, I'm spending a 3-weeks vacation in Calgary before going back to Dubai for another 4-months trip.
