Landed immigrant, landed on June 27th, 2001. During the past 2 months I have been applying for jobs in Canada and worldwide. In Canada, Employers are asking for a Canadian experience. To get a Canadian experience I have to start working in Canada, and to start working in Canada I have to have a Canadian experience. Did I ask you which came first, the chicken or the egg!?.
In one of the major oil producing companies in Canada (Please don't ask me for the name, I'd like to stay longer in Canada), a very respectful gentleman who interviewed me told me that he was an agriculture engineer when he first joined the company then he had reservoir engineering training courses to become a reservoir engineer. He implied that his company prefer to do that rather than employing a well-experienced reservoir engineer with no Canadian experience. What a great strategy!!..more..
