Series Romance Reviews

Barbara Samuel aka Ruth Wind is one of my favorite authors.  Her latest release in series romance is BEAUTIFUL STRANGER - Silhouette Intimate Moments 1011, June 2000.   This book is a continuation of "The Last Roundup series which began in June '97 with MARRIAGE MATERIAL

In
BEAUTIFUL STRANGER, Ruth Wind re-introduces us to Robert "Red Dog" Martinez whom we first met in her second installment of this series RECKLESS (Silhouette Intimate Moments - 796).  Robert uncomplicated life is a thing of the past when his 15 year old niece shows up pregnant on his doorstep.  He takes her in and does his best to ensure she continues her schooling but soon finds out it's not a simple task.  Marissa Pierce was the "chubby" twin sister no one notices.  As a teacher she learns to care a great deal for some of her students and the new kid in her class, a pregnant teen, is no exception.  She is determined to earn the trust of the troubled teen and her uncle.  Marissa and Robert soon find that their mutual attraction will only complicate matters.  Robert cannot put aside his resentment of Marissa's monied background and the proud Native American from the wrong side of the tracks is sure there cannot be a future for two people who's livestyles are worlds apart.

With a Ruth Wind novel, always be ready for an emotional read with characters that are very real.  You won't want to put this book down and when you do you will be looking for the other books in this series.  They are: MARRIAGE MATERIAL, RECKLESS and my personal favorite HER IDEAL MAN (click on scans above to learn more about these titles) The Last Roundup is an ongoing series and in the near future we can look forward to the next installment.  There is no word yet on when it will be available but we do know it will be about Marissa's twin sister Victoria as this is mentioned at the end of BEAUTIFUL STRANGER!

In this July 2000 release of Silhouette Intimate Moments 1020, Mitch Reeves gets a second chance to fix what's wrong with his marriage.  When his wife suffers a serious head injury which impares her memory--more than likely permanently, she forgets all about their years as man and wife, including that she was on the verge of divorcing Mitch.  Since he is still desperately in love with his wife, Mitch looks to this unfortunate accident as an opportunity to make up for past mistakes.
Katerina wants a divorce because she does not want to compete with Katie, the woman Mitch fell in love with and married.  She knows she can never be that person again since the accident not only erased her memory but also changed her personality.

This touching story has gives us a small taste of intrigue with potential for a lot more.  I enjoyed the book but the story line did not keep me on the edge of my seat.  I did like it well enough that I will probably read
Pamela Dalton's work again.
