Rage Against The Machine Lyrics |
Rage Against The MachineRage Against The MachineThis is the first Rage album, the first occasion on which Tom Morello, Tim Bob, and Brad Wilk fused Metal, Electronica, 70's funk, hip-hop and a touch of Psychadelia to produce their distinctive sound, underlaying Zack De La Rocha's energy-infused, Left Wing lyrics. The album's first single, Freedom, gained massive MTV play, as the band was originally marketed as a rap group. This is undestandable as Zack's vocals are far closer to rap than any of Rage's other offerings. The songs castigate The Media, 'Uncle Sam'(The finger to the land of the chains/What the land of the free/whoever told you that is your enemy), Predujice in South Africa, the American dream (Ignorance, Hypocracy, brutality, the elite/ All of these are American Dreams), and just about every other political scam a Left Wing activist like De La Rocha could get worked up about. Even If You don't share the extreme positions Zack lays out, the sheer energy in his lyrics make them amazing. And it's not just about the words either, Tom Morello is one of the most talented guitarrists around, and his skill keeps the songs together. Killing in the Name, Bombtrack, and Know Your Enemy are the album's classic tracks, as the band try to start a mass youth rebellion against just about anything. This album is a classic, one of the best records of the last decade. Songs1. BOMBTRACK (4:04)2. KILLING IN THE NAME (5:14) 3. TAKE THE POWER BACK (5:37) 4. SETTLE FOR NOTHING (4:48) 5.
