Rage Against The Machine, one of the most
influential bands in the recent history
of rock music formed in 1991. By early
1992 they had pieced
together a self produced 12 song cassette
which went on to sell over 5000 copies.
By November their first album is
released on Epic Records, and becomes an
instant rock classic. By early 1994, due
to relentless touring and word of mouth,
the album has gone platinum in 14
countries. The follow up, Evil Empire is
released in 1996, and debuts at #1. Their
next album, The Battle of Los Angeles is
widely thought to be their finest effort,
was released three years later.
Rage's unfaltering left wing political
stance in their lyrics, along with their
'non-synthesised', unique musical style,
combining metal, funk, and rap has seen
them become on oof the most original
and influential bands of the 90's
