Entry for May 10, 2007

The following blog below, "Mary Quigley Case Update", was posted on the Mission City Lantern by Mr. James Rowen on

Thursday, May 10th 2007 at 8:20 pm. It states that Mr. Rowen is clearly angry that Mary's friends asked about renaming the

War Memorial Playground, Mary Quigley Playground. Mr. Rowen stated he was all alone at the February 20th parks and recreation meeting. On February 19th I had a phone conversation with Mr. Rowen and he told me that there was really no need to appear at the meeting because the Mary Quigley Plaque was a slam dunk.

Mr. Rowen didn't mention the importance of showing up at that meeting for a park name change. In fact Mr. Rowen never

suggested it. His reason for not asking that the park be renamed Mary Quigley Playground was, "I was at that meeting all

alone". After my LW did minimal research, Mr. Rowens hidden agenda became very clear. On May 9th, Mr. Rowen was very adamant  about the parks name remaining War Memorial Playground. Mr. Rowen stated it would be impossible to have it named Mary Quigley Memorial Playground. It's not impossible Mr. Rowen, it's just not one of your interests.
If it was an interest to you, you would have stood up at that meeting, you would have posted on your blog your desire to

recommend a name change. You did neither. My mistake assuming you had things handled as you conveyed per our

conversation. My mistake assuming you had things handled as you conveyed per our conversation. You clearly had no

intentions of pushing for a name change.

We are currently forming a movement to petition the city council for a park name change which we were told by a city official, the name change was very possible. Please feel free to sign Mary's petition on this site to change War Memorial Playground to Mary Quigley Memorial Playground. Your signature will be anonymous on this site with the link directly below.

From the MCL  Blog:

Mary Quigley Case Update

Another continuance.

The arraignment still has not taken place, and it will take place on June 13, 2007 at 2pm in Department 23.

One of the reasons for the continuance is that Richard Archibeque's Public Defender is retiring, and Richard has the right to

receive adequate legal counsel committed to his defense.

He still is a scumbag and a punk.

Now for the memorial plaque matter. I did not attend a meeting concerning the plaque with Larry Wolfe, because some other people wanted to have a discussion about changing the name of War Memorial Playground to Mary Quigley Memorial  Playground. Well, I am sorry, but when I attended the Parks and Recreation Commission, all of the commissioners were opposed to that idea as they felt that the name "War Memorial Park" should not be changed. Scott Parsons and Cheri Jeler were very supportive and have made contributions to this effort and could not attend the meeting. Now, I was at the meeting by myself. Mike Janetta called during the meeting and was also very supportive as was Kevin Moore and Patirica Mahan.

I am little annoyed about a renewed effort to redirect the effort from a plaque to going back to dealing with the name of the park. In my opnion, as I was on my own, and for those people who blathered that I never told them anything, IT WAS ON THE BLOG FOR WEEKS.

Do I feel people should support working for Mary's memory? Of course I feel that people should do whatever they feel is right. But there were times to make a stand for doing this, and I was there doing the best job I could, with the support of Mike, Cheri, and Scott, who have done a lot. Anyway, that is what is the latest on the Quigley case.

End of MCL Blog...

And finally... Lets hear a big hooray for all of the butt kissing on the MCL. If I remember correctly, Mike Knoy and Lori

Wentworth stepped up to the plate long long ago and committed to completely taking care of the financial costs associated with

the memorial.
