P'sol's eyebrows shot up in suprise when he read Shalna's latest letter. She'd Impressed! A black, no less. P'sol gave a whoop of happiness. Shalna's Impressed! he told Arzanth happily. She'll be coming back here in a few months!
Who has Impressed? the bronze asked looking up from a patch of odd stone he'd been examining on the floor of his weyr. He liked things clean; this was definetly not clean.
Shalna, you dimglow, don't you remember Shalna? P'sol chided. She's only been gone a month or so, we've known her ever since we came to Quinalt.
Do you mean that girl who kept coming to our weyr a while ago? Arzanth asked in a slightly puzzled tone, showing P'sol a vague image of Shalna.
That's her! P'sol exclaimed, jumping up from his bed and pacing happily. Can you believe it Zanth? She'll be back here in half a turn and she's got a dragon too! I'm sure you'll like Nachth, if she's anything like Shalna.
Nachth is a gold? Arzanth asked hopefully. He had nothing against greens, but they were such flirts it was impossible to really get to know them.
No, even better, she's a black! P'sol told him. I've never seen one, but Shalna tells me they grow to be just as big as golds.
But she's not a gold, Arzanth sighed. I was hoping to catch a gold when I'm grown up.
Zanth, she's a black! P'sol insisted. Better yet, she's Shalna's black. I'm sure you'll learn to like her. But if she's anything like Shalna, I wouldn't be eyeing those golds too closely.
For your sake, Arzanth assured his rider, rubbing his head against P'sol's hand, I'm sure I will. But I still want to chase a gold.
When you meet Nachth, P'sol replied vehemenently, as if by the force of his words he could make it true, you won't even want to chase another dragon.
