Some of the league specific rules in the Qu'Appelle Valley Baseball League:

  • Teams will play a 17 game regular season.  15 games against QVBL teams and 2 games as the visiting team against teams from the Regina Optimist Junior League. These games will count in the standings.
  • A runner for the catcher  (last out or clean shirt) with 2 outs to save time is completely optional.
  • Each team will pay a $75 fee to the league by a date specified to the teams at the annual spring meeting.  At the same time, teams are required to hand in their SBA Membership form to the league commissioner along with payment for that.  Teams failing to do so will be charged a $30 penalty and will not be permitted to play until both their league fee and SBA Membership are submitted.
  • At the Commissioner and President's discretion, under any circumstance besides weather, teams must give their opponents at least 24 hours notice if they need to cancel a game.  Failure to do so will result in a $100 penalty and a forfeit of the game.
  • Wood bats are mandatory.
  • Any player that is playing on a Junior team may also play with ONE QVBL team.  That junior player, however, is not allowed to pitch for the QVBL team under any circumstances.
  • All Junior age players who reside in Regina and have played midget or junior baseball in the Regina leagues must be granted a release by the junior team who has drafted that player. This can be done by contacting the coach or contacting Norm at Optimist Park. Each situation will be looked at. However it is very important that our teams are not raiding this league or it will die. So please use good judgement in determining junior players you want to add to your roster.
  • Any player that has been on a WMBL roster for 3 or more games in the current season will not be allowed to participate with any QVBL team in that same season.
  • All games are 7 innings in length.  If a game is tied after 7 innings, 2 extra innings may be played at the umpires discretion, depending on the amount of sun light.
  • The playoff format is as follows:

QVBL North and South Quarter-Finals (best of three)

North South
1st - bye 1st - bye
2 vs 7 2nd - bye
3 vs 6 3 vs 6
4 vs 5 4 vs 5

The winners of each series advance and are again ranked in their own division.

QVBL North and South Semi-Finals (best of three)

North South
1 vs 4 1 vs 4
2 vs 3 2 vs 3

The winners of each series advance and are again ranked in their own division.

QVBL North and South Finals (best of three)

North South
1 vs 2 1 vs 2

QVBL Final (best of three)

North Champion vs South Champion

The team with the best regular season record will be considered the home team in all playoff series'.

Playoff games begin at 6:00pm, rather than 6:30pm.  Teams have until 6:15pm to field a team.  If they fail to do so, they will forfeit the game and be fined.
