I've also fixed up the compass, the radar and the star charts. Ships are a lot clearer to pinpoint, the compass remains stable close to the space station and the star chart pointer no longer pings across to the other side of the galaxy occasionally.
Lastly, here is a picture of a WIP GBA version of Lords of Midnight. Ha! I've even managed to keep the colour clash!
The remake is Castle Master! For the Gameboy Advance! Woohoo!
What? You mean you don't know the seminal early-90s polygon quasi-classic? See this page for details. Watch the spelling mistakes though. To whet your appetite, here is what the author of that page has to say...
"Did you know that Castle Master 1+2 was the first 3D game were
you could move freely... and today's games like: Half-Life ,
Doom,Qauke,Unreal Tournamnet... all orignated from Castle Masters 3D
Engine!"
While that is a fair load of toddle, it does go to show why CM was
pretty well received in its day. Though Driller did it all a few years
earlier, someone else started a remake of that game and I didn't want
to step on their toes. As for my remake, well it's more or less
finished. All that's really missing is proper saving of some sort. At
the moment there's just 1 save "slot", so each time you save
you wipe over it.
Go to Downloads to get this first verison and drop me a line if you think it's rubbish or good or whatever!
While I'm here, I may as well say that I'm (slowly) working on another remake. It's at least 80% done, but the last few parts, mainly cosmetics, are taking forever to do.
(Sunday) More Chaos stuff! This should be the last version and it has enough new additions to make it worth the download, I think.
I can't grumble really, I've had a year of freebies, but I'm too tight to pay hosting fees on other sites so it's back to Geocities. The www.quirky.remakes.org site will be up until the end of June, then it'll be gone forever! After then I'll be on an ad-filled Geocities site.
I've also uploaded the libs that I use routinely. They are WIP, kind of, but there's handy stuff there for text, decompression, etc. Plus a lot of completely useless buggy code that I wrote a while ago and shouldn't be used by anyone :)
