I've not had much time to dedicate to GBA programming recently :( I
have, however, uploaded a new version of Chaos. It fixes a couple of
minor bugs and shrinks the size down to < 256kb. If you are keen,
then it should be fairly easy to recompile as a multiboot image, but I
don't have the hardware to test that out so haven't risked uploading a
mb version.
I've also uploaded the libs that I use routinely. They are WIP,
kind of, but there's handy stuff there for text, decompression, etc.
Plus a lot of completely useless buggy code that I wrote a while ago
and shouldn't be used by anyone :)

Discovered
PogoShell, a
fantastic bit of software that makes proper use of flash cards. I've
added support for it to Chaos and Elite. Basically "Quit to PogoShell"
options and Pogo icons. Copy the .icon file into the same directory as
the game and you'll have the icon on the menu. I also took the
opportunity to make some minor changes to Elite: a new optional
brighter palette, faster vertex code (less slow down when things get
hectic) and a couple of extra save changes, though old saves should
work fine.

I've finished the new version of Chaos! Rengineered from the Speccy
original, this remake is the closest to the original yet.
Except that Atari ST version.. Anyway, it plays pretty
well and this one doesn't crash all the time like my first effort.
Source code is there too, if you like that sort of thing.

I've updated the Chaos dev diary. Nothing too exciting yet, but I've
recently begun remaking the remake. The site was looking a bit stale
too - no updates for 2 months is a scandal!
Saturday 25 January 2003
Two big bits of news. The first is the site redesign, which is still
not perfect but is easier to maintain and looks a bit better than the
old design.
The second (and far better) news is that I've ported Elite The New
Kind to the GBA!
There are more screens in the screenshot section and there's binary
and source downloadable in the downloads section. As ever, feel free to
leave your comments in the guestbook or drop me a line at the address
on the left.

Hello! No I haven't forgotten about this site. I've been busy with
stuff - something really cool. I think (hope) you'll all be well
impressed. More news soon!

Cyclone's out! Get it from the
Downloads page. Leave any comments in the guestbook too, if you
like :) (ps: guestbook removed due to spammage...)
Sunday 17 November 2002
Some problems on hardware and a couple of bugs to fix. Release delayed.
Check back on WEDNESDAY! (Sorry)
Friday 15 November 2002
I've finished!
Well, nearly. I still have to check everything on my real GBA, as
opposed to emulators, then I'll release the game this weekend,
hopefully! :)
Wednesday 18 September 2002
A couple of dev diary updates for Cyclone - it is going quite well so
far. Might even get finished this side of Christmas...
Monday 26 August 2002
Just got back from my 3 week summer hols. Might take me a while to get
into the swing of things again...
Monday 29 July 2002
OK, bit of a reshuffle of the site to get Cyclone stuff fitted in -
there are now a couple of screenshots in that section. Optimistically I
have a "Projects" section too. At the moment it has my Chaos and
Cyclone stuff summarised. I'm going on holiday soon, so there won't be
any updates for a while. Hopefully when I come back I'll be so
rejuvenated that I'll have a Cyclone download ready in no time...
And for those wondering if I have stopped with Chaos, well, yes I
have for now. However, writing this first part of Cyclone I have learnt
a lot more about the GBA. I think that when I've finished this remake,
I'll return to Chaos and give it a spring clean, the controls
especially need looking at, as does some of the "timing" stuff. But
don't hold your breath...

Has it really been a month? Well, no, but nearly. Anyway, I haven't
forgotten about this site. In fact I have been busy and have started a
new remake. Details are
here or click
on "games" on the left there.
I am a bit worried about announcing this before having anything
finished, but I don't wat the site looking so stale. Anyway, go and
have a skeet and tell me what you reckon :)
