Cowboys quarterbacks Quincy Carter, Vinny Testaverde, Drew Henson, and Tony Romo split minicamp snaps over the weekend, a sign that the competition for the starting job is wide open. "I'm going to go by what I see," head coach Bill Parcells told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "The best player will play. They know that. I'm rooting for all of them. I just hope we have a good quarterback playing." Parcells later added, "It's about competition. It's like why I keep two drivers in my golf bag. If one of them isn't behaving, I want her to know that other one is right there. If she gets paranoid, that's OK with me. As long as she behaves. If she's behaving real well, then I put the other one in the trunk."." Carter also welcomed the battle, saying, "I definitely understand what I'm up against. I've got an older guy I'm going to have to fight off, and another younger guy who's looking to be a good quarterback in this league, too. But I'm excited because I'm going to be good in this league, too. Competition is always good." :-June 7 2004.

Quincy led the Cowboys to their 1st winning season in 3 years in 2003 and also led the Cowboys into the Playoffs for the 1st time since 1998. Quincy started every game in 2003 and showed remarkable improvement over his 1st 2 seasons. Only time will tell if Quincy Carter becomes a super star in the NFL but things sure look a whole lot brighter for him now!
