| Trip to the Ear/Nose/Throat Doctor - Date: February 27, 2002 - 26 Months Old | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Daddy was sent to New Jersey for the week for work so mommy took me to my appointment by herself. I definitely need another set of tubes, the first set are coming out and my ear infections have started back up. They also suggested I get my adnoids taken out this time along with my tonsils. Even though I haven't had a lot of throat problems, my tonsils are really big and they could interfere with my sleeping and breathing. The surgery is scheduled in just one week. Mommy & Daddy are pretty nervous but just want the best for me! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Follow up Trip to the Ear/Nose/Throat Doctor - Date: March 20, 2002 - 27 Months Old | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The surgery itself went great. Recovery was awful. They normally keep you 2 hours after surgery to watch and monitor. Mom & Dad had to keep me there for 8 hours! I all but ripped out my IV so they had to try getting fluids in through my mouth. I wasn't going to fall for it! They finally sent us home hoping that I'd do better in the comfort of my own space, but that didn't work too well either. Two days later Mom & Dad had to take me to the ER and get an IV for some fluids. I was dehydrated and wouldn't let anything near my mouth - not water, not juice, not food, not pain medicine, and not even ice cream or popscicles! The nurse in the ER tried forcing some water down but saw what Mom & Dad were up against - I had perfected spitting *everything* out. So they put an IV in and said it would be about an hour. Well, 4 hours later we were out of there. Getting hydrated got me feeling better and I was able to recover a lot quicker. I started drinking a bit on my own and we didn't have to go through that again! Doctor Riddle checked and everything is healing just like it should. | Time for the booster shot for Hepatitis. They normally don't do this one until Kindergarten, but since we went out of the country on the cruise it was recommended. Zander got his shots too. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Ear/Nose/Throat Doctor - Date: November 11, 2002 - 34 Months Old | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| They wanted to do a toponogram (sp?) but I wouldn't let them anywhere near my ears! I have an "ear thing" - I don't let anyone near my ears and when I'm scared for any reason I cover them up. Dr Riddle saw me 2 months ago and said one was already out and the other was on its way out, so it's time for another set of tubes! Next week we'll have them put in. Mom and Dad hate this, but hope that this will be the last set! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
