| Making the Center Star | ||||||||||||||||||||||
1. Use template to draw 8 A diamonds on paper (non-shiny)side of freezer paper. Cut out paper diamonds. These templates do not include seam allowances; you will add seam allowances when cutting. 2. Join assorted strips to make a strip set that is approximately 17" x 42", assembling them in a pleasing arrangement of color and strip widths. 3. Using a dry iron set at wool, press shiny side of freezer-paper templates to wrong side of strip set as shown below in Diamond Cutting Diagram. Leave space around paper diamonds for � " seam allowance ( or cut your template to include the seam allowance) |

| 4. Use a rotary cutter and ruler to cut diamonds. Align edge of ruler �" beyond edges of paper pieces. Cut out 8 diamonds, adding � " seam allowance to all sides as shown above. Leave paper adhered to fabric. Save remainder of strip set for the boarders. 5. Using paper edges as sewing guides, join diamonds in pairs as shown below in Diagram 1. Backstitch at beginning and end of seams and stitch only the length of paper pieces, leaving seam allowances free at ends of seams. Join pairs unto 4 diamond half stars |

| 6. Join star halves, again leaving seam allowances at ends of seams free. Press seam allowances to one side, in a clockwise direction | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| 7. Referring to Diagram 2, set a B triangle into alternating openings around star. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| 8. Referring to Diagram 3, set a C square into each remaining opening, Completed block should maesure 19 �", including seam allowances. If your block is larger or smaller, adjust inner border to achieve recommended overall size. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
