Adding Inner Border

1. Referring to the diagram below, cut 14 ( 1 �"-wide) segments from strip set left over from cutting diamonds.

2. Join segments end-to-end to make a continuous strip approximately 230" long.

3. From long strip, cut 2 borders 19 �" long and 2 borders 20 �" long.  Sew the shorter borders to opposite sided of star; sew longer borders to remaining sides.  Press seam allowances towards borders,  (All borders, except mitered outer borders will be added to quilt top in this manner.)

4. Trim 2 cream border strips to 20 �" long and 2 borders 27" long.  Sew borders to center square.

5. From remainder of pieced strip, cut 2 borders 27" long and 2 borders 28 �" long.  Sew borders to cream border as before.  Quilt top should now measure approximately 28 �".
