History:

Prologue

As a young king, Edward was walking in the courtyard of Castle Daventry one day when a ball came flying from the sky and hit him directly on the head. He quickly left the castle and headed for the carrot gardens where the ball seemed to have come from and discovered Malvolio and Graham there. He asked which of them had thrown the ball over the castle wall. Graham immediately confessed, absolving his friend of any responsibility in the action. Impressed, Edward told the young boy that he hoped he would become a knight.

King Edward ruled the kingdom of Daventry in its most prosperous era with his beloved wife, Queen Maylie. However, the two of them never bore a child and they deeply wished to, since that would have given them an heir. One day, a sorcerer arrived at Castle Daventry and told them that they would bear a child if only they could give him Merlins Mirror. That was one of the three great treasures of Daventry, so the king and queen were reluctant. When they consulted the mirror, however, they saw the face of a young man wearing the Crown of Daventry. Immediately, they accepted the sorcerers offer. He took the mirror and set a beast to guard it, but the queen never conceived a child.

Without the mirror guiding them, Daventry lost its first harvest in years due to an early frost. Plague struck the kingdom and even Queen Maylie fell ill. Edward grew depressed, feeling that there was nothing he could do to help his kingdom or his beloved wife. Then, a dwarf arrived at castle offering a cure. In return for the Shield of Achille, the dwarf could cure Maylie of the plague. He demonstrated by touching a root to her lips. As soon as he had done so, she seemed to recover. Joyfully, Edward gave the Shield to the dwarf. Soon, however, Queen Maylie worsened and died. Hearing of the loss of the Shield of Achille, armies began invading Daventry. The kingdom was quickly losing everything it had once possessed.

Then, King Edward encountered Princess Dahlia of Cumberland as she was being attacked by a wolf. Edward rescued her, and soon they began a relationship. Edward eventually proposed to Dahlia and she accepted. The night of the wedding, however, Dahlia was discovered in the treasure room by a guard. In her hands she held the Chest of Gold, and with a cackle she transformed into a hideous witch and flew away with the chest. Now, Daventry had lost all three of its great treasures.

Quest for the Crown

After many years, Edward eventually knew his life was ending. He had not been able to find the treasures or restore Daventry to its former glory. As a last resort, he summoned his First Knight, Sir Graham of Daventry, to Castle Daventry. There, he informed Graham that the three treasures had to be found. He charged Graham with the task, and then added that if Graham could succeed, he would become heir to the throne of Daventry.

After a while, Edward had not heard from Graham. He feared he had sent his best successor to his death, and his depression grew deeper. Concerned, the entire court of Castle Daventry gathered in the throne room. The Doctor announced that it was hopeless; there was no saving Edward. Just then, Graham entered the throne room and presented the three lost treasures. Edward stood, elated, but collapsed to the floor. He had seen hope for his kingdom, but he could do no more. As he died, he reminded Graham that he was heir to throne.

Romancing the Stones

After a year of Grahams reign, King Edward appears in Merlins Mirror. He advised the young king that he should take a wife, or else Daventry would fall back into its state of disrepair. Heeding his former leaders words, Graham set up organizing a ball. None of the women took the young mans attention, however. Another vision came through the mirror, soon after, and told Graham to go to Kolyma and rescue Valanice.

At King Grahams wedding to Valanice, Caldaur summoned the spirit of King Edward. Edward was pleased with Graham, and praised him for his good deeds and loyalty to Daventry. Feeling as though Daventry had been ensured a prosperous future, the spirit of King Edward was never seen or heard of again.
