Steven Canning Born: Glasgow, 6th May 1983 Signed: from Queen's Park Under-18s, August 2000 Height: 5ft 10in Mass: 11st Debut: vs. Montrose ( as substitute ), League Challenge Cup, 15/08/00 QP League Career Apps Goals 2000/01 16 ( 2 ) 1 2001/02 27 ( 9 ) 5 Steven has been used in a variety of positions since breaking into the team, and is comfortable wide on the left, in an attacking midfield berth or even up front. The youngster has excellent footwork and close control, and can finish very neatly indeed, as evidenced by his goals against Dundee United and Morton last season. At present, he is being used as wing-back or in midfield. Won the QPSA Player of the Year award for 2001/02, and I thoroughly agreed with the merit of that decision - Stevie played in every league game at some stage, and did his best to liven up a struggling team.

Paddy Gallagher Born: Glasgow, 28th December 1979 Signed: from Stranraer, July 2002 Height: 5ft 9in Mass: 10st 5lb Debut: vs. Albion Rovers, 08/09/01 QP League Career Apps Goals 2001/02 4 ( 3 ) - Like so many Queen's Parkers, Paddy is currently in his second spell at Hampden, having originally joined the club from St. Mungo's in 2001. First team chances were very limited for him in 2001/02 but he did enough to impress Stranraer, who took him south but never gave him a start. Re-signed last summer, it's only since Kenny Brannigan's arrival that Paddy has become any more than a fringe player, though he did score against Gretna back in November 2002 after coming off the bench. His best performance so far was in the draw with Hamilton at Hampden, where he gave a tigerishly competitive midfield performance and distributed the ball simply and effectively.

Stuart Kettlewell Born: Glasgow, 4th June 1984 Signed: from Lenzie Youth Club, August 2002 Height: 5ft 11in Mass: 11st Debut: vs. East Stirlingshire ( as substitute ), 18/01/03 Stuart has progressed through the youths and Strollers sides to edge his way into the top team reckoning. He appears a tidy midfield player, but hasn't featured enough yet to give a clear inkling of whether or not he has the skills and staying power to earn a regular place. And often at this level of football, the latter can be just as relevant as the former in determining a player's future. Stuart has suffered several injuries since breaking into the team last season, and has also been sent-off three times; he is very determined but needs to learn how to channel his aggression on the park.
