Former players
Gordon Lappin

Born: Greenock, 29th March 1981
Signed: from Gourock Y. A. C. , June 2002
Height: N/A
Mass: N/A
Debut: vs. Elgin City, 03/08/02

Clearly, there are high hopes for Lappin, most of them emanating from John McCormack. However, the young full back or midfielder has been quiet in most games until the point of writing. Gordon will probably continue to be a utility player for the foreseeable future.

Alistair MacNiven

Born: Paisley, 5th December 1983
Signed: from Rangers, August 2000
Height: 6ft
Mass: 12st 5lb
Debut: never played

Has still to make an appearance for the first team, after becoming formally part of the squad during the summer. Alistair had played for two seasons in the Under-18 team, and was the only one of them to make the step up this close season. Plying his trade at present with the Strollers, in the full back roles.

These profiles are now clearly obsolete, but we were reluctant to get rid of them entirely. So here they are.
James Allan

Born: Glasgow, 21st September 1979
Signed: from East Fife, July 2002
Height: 5ft 9in
Mass: 12st
Debut: vs. Elgin City, 03/08/02

A tricky winger, and one of the few players at this level capable of beating their marker with fine ball skills. At times, James's crossing could be better, and he is also suspect when faced with a clear chance at goal. However, his natural ability means he will be a vital component in the team as Queen's look to improve their form. Never fully established at Cowdenbeath and East Fife, but was given the chance to re-build his career at Hampden, and has grasped the opportunity very well. Memorable moments: the two excellent goals in the Challenge Cup, versus Berwick and Brechin.

Tony Mitchell

Born: Glasgow, 10th January, 1979
Signed: from Larkhall Thistle, August 2001
Height: 6ft 1in
Mass: 13st 8lb
Debut: vs. Albion Rovers, 27/10/01

Mitchell acted as back-up keeper to on-loan Graeme Smith for most of last season, but got his chance towards the end of the season after some shaky defensive displays. Performed competently and is likely to be first choice this time around.
Previously on the books at St. Mirren and played twice for Albion Rovers before turning junior.

Mark Cairns

Born: Edinburgh, 25th September 1969
Signed: from Brechin City, January 2003
Height: 6ft
Mass: 13st
Debut: vs. Albion Rovers, 08/02/03

Mark arrived just before the end of January transfer deadline, in order to bolster the goalkeeping position following a poor run of form by Tony Mitchell. Mark has top-flight experience with Partick Thistle, where he understudied Nicky Walker after joining from Gala Fairydean in 1994. Moved to Alloa in 1997 and won promotion and a Challenge Cup medal in 1999/2000, before signing up for the Glebe Park revolution under Dick Campbell in 2001. Brechin released him recently, and KB stepped in.
