FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions... for those that have always wondered...)

How much is one lesson and how much are the lessons in total?
M
embers must pay for lessons in groups of eight (in order to ensure commitment from both yourself and the instructor).  In total the lessons come to two-hundred twenty dollars for eight lessons.

What happens if I miss a lesson?
If you are unable to make it to a lesson, then it is important to inform your instructor and make arrangements for a make-up lesson.  You are guaranteed one make-up lesson, so don't fret if you have a mid-term a day after your riding lesson... no need to try and do calculus sums while figuring out your stride, just make arrangements for a make-up lesson with your instructor!

I can't even ride the 25-cent pony at the grocery store, can I still sign up for lessons?
We welcome beginners!  Learn all you need to know, from basic grooming and tacking up to how to shorten those stirrups and learning to canter.  The horses are trained for schooling and are very kind and gentle, they know how to behave with beginners.  Take this opportunity to try out riding, especially if it's something that you've always wanted to do.... remember that Black Beauty book you loved so much?

Can lessons be refunded after I have paid?
After you pay the club, we wait 1-2 weeks before all the money goes to the instructors. Up until then, we can give you a direct refund if you do one lesson and decide it isn't for you. After this period, we unfortunately cannot give you a refund since we no longer have that money. If there are extenuating circumstances you can always speak directly to the instructor and they can decide to give you the refund.

I love my horse and can't bear to leave him in Barrie.  Is there anywhere for me to board my horse around here?
There are many facilities in Kingston and the surrounding area where you can keep your horse. Dream Catcher Farm offers boarding and then lessons can also be done through the club. For a full list of boarding facilities, you can visit www.wiltontack.com/bulletinboard.hym#Boarding

Does the Equestrian Club offer a competitive route?
Unfortunately we have not yet aqcuired team status so cannot legally compete at Inter-University competitions as a team. However, people in the club will be notified of any nearby competitions and are more than welcome to go and compete as an individual. If there are a bunch of people everyone goes down together and rides/accomodations can be split between the group.
