"Little girls just can't be cowboys", they told her when she was five. Well, a few birthdays later she proved them wrong. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Queenie was transplanted to the South where she got her first horse and her first guitar. (see photo)
Her music, like herself, is pure Americana. Queenie has lived in most of the southern states and on both coasts. Along the way she listened to everybody from the Beatles to Loretta Lynn, Bonnie Raitt to John Prine, Nanci Griffith to Tom Petty...and all are evident in her songwriting.
Queenie's first two albums,Cowgirl Dreams (accepted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame and Museum) and One Horse Town chronicle her journey from childhood to motherhood. Taking us down a winding (and sometimes rocky) road with heartfelt "true story songs", down-home country blues and some just for fun bluegrass and Texas swing.
Trailer Park Jazz, her latest CD takes a slightly different direction. An eclectic collection of songs written since her move to Nashville. With a stand-out vocal performance on the sultry "Fallen Angel", a quirky western love song "Rodeo Clown" and the timely folk anthem "Freedom Pie"....proving once again you can't tell this cowgirl what she can't do.
