Welcome to my homepage.  I use this site to discuss things that I like, and that are important to me.  Given that I am often described as a polemicist, I suggest you look at my disclaimer, located in the link bar under my picture, before reading this website.  That said, I will not change who I am, regardless of what anyone tells me- unless they talk sense, of course.

Most of this website will be devoted to the things I am interested in: politics, history, soccer, travel, culture, military history, chess, and my limited intellectualism (which is combined with my unlimited ability to rant on a topic that I like).

A bit about me.  I am a 27-year-old Irishman currently living in South Korea, where I am a TEFL teacher, that is I teach English to Korean children and adults.  With a BBS, CELTA,, and an MBS, to my name, I am 'educated' in the conventional sense of having been to college.  I am also a published writer, but don't get your knickers in a twist just yet as my only published work was an academic article.  The words 'I published an academic article' are a euphemism for 'Nobody on Earth has ever read my published work'.

Despite the six letters, at least, that I can put behind my name, I think real education comes from seeing the world.  In my case, two such moments of learning have come within the past few weeks, when one of my students told me I'd be good-looking if I didn't wear glasses, and my director's mother told me to fatten up, because I looked like I was starving to death.  This in the supposedly politeness-obsessed South Korea.  I will say much more on the topic of Korea, Ireland, and travel in general.  My relatively limited experience of international travel has taken me across Europe, and now to Asia.  Advice on America would be welcomed.

Those who know me, or those who read this website, will know that I am fairly right wing in my political views.  I support globalisation to the point of believing it is the only way to end global poverty.  I am also in favour of the death penalty, have an anti-abortion stance, and believe that church and state should be combined, in that the modern day church is the law.  The law is a pre-requisite for a moral country.  Morality is not just a virtue, it is a way of life to some people.

Some of this website will be 'serious' like the last paragraph, but I will also include footage of the family's dog drinking vodka, and of some of the worst dancing ever, on the streets of Krakow, in Poland.  In time, I hope to have sufficient resources, and interested people, to run a message board of some sort.

Other topics of interest to me, apart from people, culture, travel and all the other things mentioned above, are good TV comedy, such as Fawlty Towers, South Park, Bottom, Father Ted and the Simpsons.  I don't watch all that much TV, and don't waste my time with pap.  I do watch a lot of the news services, such as Fox, CNN, Sky and MSNBC.  Film-wise, I liked the Shawshank Redemption, or basically anything associated with Stephen King, and stuff like the Lord of the Rings, the Terminator films, and (in my weaker moments) some of the original James Bond films, which were so corny they were funny.
