Artwork & Doodles

The following images are all from the sketchbook I was required to keep and fill for my art class. They have all been resized and where applicable, a sample of the image I was drawing from is provided.

This is my first copy of a drawing done at home in my sketchbook. Naturally it is of a Sailormoon character. This happens to be of Tomoe Hotaru. Click here to see the original drawing to compare. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper. This was actually fun to draw and I didn't mess up a whole lot so I was pretty happy with the results.

This is my second copy of a drawing done at home in my sketchbook. Naturally it is of a Sailormoon character. This happens to be Tsukino Usagi. Click here to see the original drawing to compare. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper. This was difficult to draw and I'm still not happy with it. The eyes are a little off and those damn arms were giving me problems from the start.

This is a drawing of a cat on my musicbox. It says Chessie on it and that is the name of something having to do with a railroad car or something. Click here to see a scan of the original musicbox to compare. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper. It's a cat, that's it. It doesn't look very much the same but it is a cat and it at least looks like a cat.

This is my feeble attempt to draw Betty Boop from a car air freshener. She is so hard to draw! You would think it would be simple but her big head is what throws everything off...and what's up with that hair? Click here to see a scan of the original car air freshener to compare. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper.

This is one of my favorites from an Itchy and Scratchy episode on The Simpsons. The original actually says "Scar Trek: The Next Laceration" (as in "Star Trek: The Next Generation") but the scanner cut off the bottom of the drawing where I wrote that. Click here to see the original picture to compare. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper. This was actually more difficult than I thought but not because of what I was drawing but rather the size of the original copy. That scan is the actual size I worked from.

This is a drawing of my pet cockateil. No, she wasn't stuffed, I had to draw from a book. But I can't find the book so I don't have the original. She basically looks the same and I just didn't draw the orange cheeks since she doesn't have them and the picture did. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper.

This drawing was done free-hand (not like the earlier copies) and of course, another Sailormoon image. This is Galaxia in her normal state. Click here to see the original drawing to compare. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper. I had little difficulty with this drawing but expressing her different color hair in shades of gray presented a few problems.

This is my first self-portrait done at home. It was a little tricky to do because I have a fan with four lights in my room so I had to adjust all the lighting in my room to give any shadow effect. I did this in a matter of about 15 minutes. There was a second self-portrait but it wasn't as good, I think the lighting caused problems. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper.

This isn't a drawing of anyone in particular. I just drew this one from my head so there isn't much to say about it. I'm sure anyone could find some similar image drawn somewhere else but I didn't draw it from anything directly. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper.

This is a drawing of Brandy from the "Never Say Never" album. Click here to see the original photo to compare. There were a lot of pictures in there and I was running out of ideas for filling up the 50 page sketchbook so I just drew this one. It was extremely difficult though. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper.

This is a drawing of one of the many Sailormoon anime pictures I have on my computer. Click here to see the original picture to compare. This was just a random one I chose and I liked Usagi's facial expression in this picture. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper.

This was from such a funny episode of The Simpsons. Click here to see the original picture to compare. This was from one of the many Halloween specials on The Simpsons and this was titled "The Shinning" (not "shining"). It was supposed to be a spoof of "The Shining" and Homer axes about three doors (the first 2 doors led to empty rooms where he utters his classic "D'oh!" after saying "Heeeeerrre's Johnny" and "Daaaaaavvvvid Letterman") and on the third one he finds his family. The text bubble indicates his last line and the family replies with screams. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper.

This was just a "still-life" of a stuffed animal bear I have. Not much else to say about it though the original color of the bear was cream with a red bow around the neck. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper.

This is my third self-portrait done at home. It looks rather odd to me because it really looks nothing like me. I was standing up and holding my sketchbook while drawing it. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper.

This was fun to draw. It's the mascot for Lard Lad doughnuts on The Simpsons. Click here to see the original picture to compare. I used an ebony pencil on regular drawing paper.
