Qormi Hockey Club was founded in 1971 when a group of students from Guze' Galea secondary  school  in Qormi  started  playing Hockey under coach and then teacher "Chossie" Kerr.  36 years have passed and Hockey is still being played and now it is one of the main sports disciplines in Qormi.

At the beginning it was very difficult.  Young players used to meet in a garage or in a cellar of Qormi F.C. until the club settled in the Manwel Dimech Sports Complex where at present we have good facilities to practice our sport.  It is of great satisfaction for our club to announce that it is the first Hockey Club in Malta to own a synthetic pitch.  This has been our ambition for a long time.

Friday 1st December 2000 was an historic day for Qormi Hockey Club.  Club Chairman Joseph Grech (far left) and Club Secretary Reuben Chircop (left) were at the office of the Parliamentary secretary for Sports Jesmond Mugliett, and signed the contract which gave Qormi Hockey Club the Manwel Dimech Sports Complex for 49 years.  This meant that QHC could start to benefit from these premises.  Plans were put to paper on the development of these premises and the result of all this hard work can be seen today.  The Club possesses 2 artificial turf pitches adjacent to eachother complete with dressing rooms, children's area and a Bar.  The size of both pitches together is equivalent to the FIH's size of an indoor Field Hockey pitch.  These pitches are also used to play Football and serve as a good source of income for our club.

Qormi Hockey Club is an active member in the Hockey  Association of Malta.  Some seasons ago our Chairman Mr.Joseph Grech, served the last 6 years as Chairman of the Association as well.  Our club takes part in every competition organised by the  HAM including a Senior team, a Reserves team and Junior teams in U-12 and U-14 and U-16.
