| TAO of Action Learning |
| Our project is based on this model of learning and this is a short little take on what we understand by it. It must be said that our knowledge and understanding of the model (as is our understanding of Tao and the way things work) is limited and hopefully we have applied some elements of it in the course of our project and reading this will enhance the reader's knowledge and interest in finding out more. The Tao of Action Learning is basically a learning model based on the concept of Action Learning developed by Reginald Revans and guided by the ideas of Tao, the ancient Chinese philosophy. In every problem, there is no single best solution and much depends on what the person with the problem can come up with in response. The idea here is that every situation presents itself with a learning opportunity and a chance to gain new knowledge. Revans developed the idea that knowledge can be acquired by questioning insight under the condition of ignorance. It can be summed up by the equation, L=P+Q where L=learning, P=programmed knowledged and Q=insightful questioning under the condition of ignorance. By combining this idea with the knowledge of Tao and how it works, it is hoped that learning capabilities can be enhanced. |
