Dreams and goals. Corruption.
(Yuan's dream)
The room was enveloped in darkness…A darkness so intense I felt as though I was suffocating. I flung my arms out wildly, trying desperately to grab hold of something, yet not knowing what that something was. I scrambled madly around trying to find a passage out of this black hole. My arms hit a hard object and I felt cold liquid running down my arms, followed by a violent crash. I couldn’t see, but I knew it was glass shattering. Liquid was rapidly seeping out onto the floor. Immediately, I could sense an unspeakably evil presence in the room. My mind screamed out at me to flee, but my limbs remained frozen, and all I could do was wait for the horror that was to be unveiled…

(Lena's reality)
“Y-E-S!” She exclaims with great delight as she pulls open the thick beige curtain that hides a round, floor-length window. Immediately, piercing sunlight shoot into her bedroom filling it with sunshine and the feeling of a wonderful new day. This must be a good omen, she thinks to herself as she begins to wash up.
“Good, I look fresh and energetic, and very presentable!”
She steps out onto the balcony and starts her exercises. It is such a beautiful day. She looks down onto the streets below. They are not yet lined with cars and pedestrians, but she knows that in about an hour, it will be so. Right now, everything seems fresh and new.
Yes, it is a new beginning for us all. It will be different here. He will not be here with me; I will no longer wake to his smile; I will no longer taste the breakfast, lunch, dinner, which he prepares for me; I will no longer…NO! I promised myself I would stop thinking of the past. I promised I would start fresh, from the very moment I step into Korea. And that is what I am trying so hard to do. I wonder if I can really do it.
She quickly walks back inside the room to take a shower and change. First day of work, she must appear bright and gregarious. One thing she have learned over the course of her short 20 years of life is that first impression is indeed extremely important, especially meeting people whom you are going to be around for a while. And so, she chooses a pink knitted sweater and a pair of dark-grey pants. She puts her newly dyed, reddish hair up into a ponytail.
“Great! I look enthusiastic and, at the same time, responsible.”
She grabs her shoulder slung bag which carries all her supplies and her car key. One last glance at herself in the mirror and she knows she is ready.
