Toy Stories

The following are two stories written by my students, based on the discussion I wrote about in Toy Graveyard. I have made some grammatical corrections to the stories.

Angela's Teddy Bear

I was a Teddy Bear in a department store. One day a man bought me for a little girl at a birthday party. I really liked the girl. She was so excited getting me. She cared for me a lot. She played with me all the time. Every time she talked to me, I understood what she was talking about, but I couldn't tell her, and she didn't care that I can't talk, she never stopped talking to me. I was not just a doll. I was her best friend.

I loved her, but I hated her younger sister. She wanted to know why her older sister could talk to a doll. Her older sister didn't want to give her, then she was angry. When her older sister wasn't home, she killed me with scissors. That was painful. When her sister knew this news, she looked very sadly at me. Her mother decided to throw me out. She cried very sadly, because she lost a best friend. I was so happy that I was the present for her and I was very glad that I had a host like her. Though maybe tomorrow I am not the Teddy Bear anymore, I won't forget this girl.

Dolls aren't only dolls, they can be people's friends, like this Teddy Bear.

Lily's Candy Pillow

Hi, my name is Candy. I am the pillow. I lived in this store for three months. One day, I saw a little girl came, she is Lily. She told her mom to buy me. I was very excited because to live here is so boring. Lily took me and went home and I have a new life!!!

I love Lily very much. She hugs me every night and told me something about her secrets. She usually plays with me and kisses me. When she hugs me in the night I am really happy, but she gives me saliva. It makes me sick and I'm really sick. I have mold. Lily's mother is afraid I will make Lily sick, so she gives me up. Poor little Lily, she was so sad, she is crying, but I know I must go. I'm sad too.

I don't know where I go, but I'm really happy to meet Lily. We made good friends. I wish she remembers me forever ......
