The venue for our reception was a beautiful small farm where they have converted one of their greenhouses into a restaurant-coffee shop.
Our wedding portrait at the reception.
Our friends, Pei Jun and Sue, were on red envelope collection duty for us. Guests at Chinese weddings do not bring gifts, but red envelopes with money in them. The money we got paid for the whole wedding.
Our flower girl and groom's boy were children of two of Pei Han's friends. They had to be coaxed into holding hands!
Loren, one of my Grade 5 students, played our wedding march and did a beautiful job.
This picture of us entering the reception is one of my favourites.
Me saying my vows to Pei Han. I had written them in English and so was translating them into Chinese as I spoke.
Pei Han got emotional before saying her vows and then proceeded to say some of the most beautiful things to me that anyone has ever said!
Our first kiss, which got tremendous applause, as this is a rare sight at Taiwanese weddings, which on the whole are very conservative bland affairs. I was determined that our wedding would be different!
Brooke Cheng, a good friend and previous student of mine, translated the proceedings for Faye and Glenn.
Speech time, thanking my guests, family and parents-in-law.
Reminding my parents-in-law of how opposed they were to their daughter dating a foreigner, which my mother-in-law obviously found hilarious!
Audrey, Wesley, Glenn, Pei Han and Faye.
During the lunch many of our guests came to our main table to toast us and wish us well. Here some of my students and their parents are doing so.
