New Magical Advantages

Extended Magery     50-65 pts
Mages are not limited to only 3 levels of Magery. Adding one more level increases cost to
50 pts. Adding two levels costs 65 pts. Mages with these increased levels of power may
cast larger and more powerful spells than normally possible at one increment per extra
level of Magery. Thus, a Magery 4 Mage may cast a 4 pt/4d Fireball, a 5 pt/10 hit Major
Healing spell, etc. Magery above level three is extremely uncommon, and requires a 10 pt
Unusual Background. This is in addition to the Unusual Background cost for spending 60
pts or more on magical advantages as detailed above. Therefore, Magery 5 requires a total
of 15 pts of Unusual Background. If you want this power, you must pay for it. Levels 4-5
of Limited Magery cost 32 and 38 pts respectively and still requires the 10 pt Unusual
Background. Characters must start with at least Magery 1 at creation to be a Mage.
Magery may be improved at the rate of 2 character points per point of difference in costs.
This allows Magery to be improved as though it were a seperate Stat. Note that if Magery
is increased beyond level 3, the character must pay the appropriate Unusual Background
cost as well.

These advantages may not be gained in play. You must be born with these abilities.

Magical Sensitivity 5 pts
This advantage is conveys the ability to cast spells in low- and normal-mana areas, sense
magical items on an unmodified IQ roll, read scrolls, sense changes in mana-levels, and use
mage-only magic items. This is required for Wizards to cast spells. Magical Sensitivity
gives no bonus to IQ for learning spells, Thaumatology, or the Item Use Skill. The cost of
Magery is not changed, as it includes this advantage.

Increased Thresh 5 pts
Each level of Increased Thresh increases Thresh by 20% of your Base Thresh. Therefore if
you are a Mage with Magery 2, your Base Thresh is 35. One level of Increased Thresh
adds 7 pts to Thresh, 2 levels add 14 to Thresh etc. Maximum of 3 levels available.

Increased RR   5 pts
Each level of Increased RR gives a +2 to RR. Maximum of 3 levels available.

Safer Excess   10 pts
Each level of Safer Excess doubles the amount of points in excess of your Thresh before
your Calamity Roll is increased by 1. Maximum of 3 levels available. Only Mages may
take this advantage.

Double Recovery 25 pts
This advantage causes your Tally to recover by your RR every 12 hours. This increases
the cost of Increased RR to 10 pts/lvl. Only Mages may take this advantage
